Well made. Easy to flip the handle so I could put one on each side of my garage door. The multiple mounting holes make it very easy to install. I had them mounted with self tapping screws in just a matter of minutes. Very solid built. Great peace of mind to know that my garage is tons more secure now. Be careful not to mount them too close to the railing. Contact is possible with the railing as the door opens and goes through the curve at the top. ... show more

It does the job and seems decent quality for what it is. I paid $1 extra for this one over the competition because it showed a red cap on the handle. Even the package has pictures with the cap, but no cap is supplied. It will not function with an external handle. The supplied bolts go completely through the garage door and have a flat head -- they will tighten flush in a wooden door, but will be visible from outside. I don't think it would work well with a metal-clad foam door (at least with the supplied hardware). The supplied hardware includes only nuts and bolts, and not washers or lock-washers. ... show more

I bought this to add security to a garage when out of town. The lock is HUGE, I mean massive and looks small and compact in photos. It will NOT fit your garage door railings existing smaller holes and slots. You will have to CUT through hard aluminum to get this installed. -_- That is a problem for most people. So it is a Mixed bag - it is HUGE, but sturdy and strong. Install is brutal. I would get something smaller, because the point of this is to add to the garage door opener's already "locked" position. All it is doing is preventing the garage door wheels from rolling up and opening by force. Smaller is better in this situation. ... show more

As advertised! It's even taken the continual abuse of attempting to open while in the locked position. (Oops! Thought I unlocked it. *sheepish grin*) Totally not the product's fault, but after about a year, I got really tired of having to get out of my car and go around through the house to manually unlock the deadbolt before being able to pull my car inside. It's super inconvenient. (Third world problems, I know.) That led to me not utilizing it as frequently. Theft is nuts in my neighborhood, though, so I knew I was just tempting fate, by leaving my garage unlocked when not home. Eventually after searching online I was able to find an electronic deadbolt that was easy to install and paired seamlessly with my LiftMaster garage opener/remote. For anyone wondering it is called SureLock Garage Door DeadBolt. It's available on Amazon and it's wonderful. I forget how to link in a review, but a quick search should pull it up. Also, the owner is super nice and helpful. I bought the deadbolt directly from his website because it was out of stock on Amazon at the time, but I was impressed by what a standup guy the proprietor Peter is. He even offered his cell in case I ran into any probs installing. (I didn't. It was easy.) So now this manual deadbolt is just a secondary backup for when the power goes out or the apocalypse happens. I give it five stars for what it is.
