I got this twin topper for my 60-pound dog. I cut it into two pieces: a large one for inside his crate, and a smaller one for place-training and napping during the day. We're very happy with it! I like the two-layered design. Here's how I use it: My dog has a large wire crate with no floor, just the crate set on top of a thick piece of sheet vinyl flooring. He is an aggressive chewer and will swallow anything that fits down his throat, so he can't have a dog bed yet. He's still a young puppy so he spills his water bowl and occasionally pees in his crate. I mean, a LOT of pee, right while we're looking at him! I just couldn't stand the fact that he had to sleep on a hard floor instead of a comfy dog bed, but there was no reasonable solution that I could buy. So I dreamed up my own design. I needed a very large, soft piece of foam to go under his vinyl sheet, that he would sink into, making a depression, so that when there was a liquid spill it would stay within the vinyl area instead of flowing out onto our slightly-sloping hardwood floor. This foam is perfect. The wire pen itself sinks in a little bit, making a gutter that prevents the pen from sliding around and that catches any liquid before it can escape. I can get into his crate with him. We sink in, but even with the weight of the two of us, I still don't feel the floor. I feel so much better now that he has something soft to sleep on! I'm in the process of making custom vinyl covers and cloth covers for his pillows. When he finally outgrows his tendency to consume non-food items, I'll be able to further cut this foam to fit inside of his crate. It's a good, economical, extremely comfortable solution to multiple problems.

This is the first time I've purchased any kind of foam/gel mattress or topper. I am very happy with this mattress. I have horrible back issues and shoulder pain when trying to sleep. I would wake up many times during the night with pain in my left shoulder and legs. My husband did purchase a new mattress a few years back but there are too many pressure points for me. After placing this mattress on my side of the bed (I purchased a twin) I have slept much better. No pain in my shoulder or hips when laying on my side. Much, much less pain in my back and legs. When I get up I'm not as stiff. So far, I'm not any more hot sleeping on this mattress than our regular mattress.
