I think the pitter works well BUT received with a crack on the side of the pit catcher. As this is the weakest part of the system I am hoping seller will replace the clear plastic pit catcher. And NO response from seller. so I have a cracked base ...If you are having problems getting the pit through its because the pit is crooked. No help for that but it really doesn't take a hard push to pit the fruit. Highly recommend for Italian prune plums ... show more

Got this yesterday and used it on yellow plums today. Got 10 quarts done. Much faster than cutting plums by hand around the pit. It will be interesting to see how it holds up. The black plastic liner to the part that holds the plum came out today but it went right back in. So we will see. Very much a useful tool when it comes to pitting plums. I used a lightweight glove on my right hand as I blister easily and didn't want that to happen.it did red plums much nicer. But does not cut them in half but kind of butterflies them. I agree about the black plastic cup...... A big pain on about every third plum. Overall... I like it.. Better on the reds thanthe softer yellows.... Put my reds onfood dehydrator... My grandkids will love! ... show more

I like it!! The plums that I used the device on were very small so the pitter pushed some of the meat still clinging to the pit thru that hole. But if my plums were a bit larger, as it should have been, the pitter would do a better job. I think the length of the tool could be a little longer giving it a bit more torque and making the push easier. Some of the less than ripe plums were tough to push thru. But it works!! Solid made product and appears it would work well. You have to really hit the plunger hard to get the blade through the plum and this is hard on the hand. It works a bit better on very ripe fruit, but leaves a good bit of pulp on the pit. Forget trying to push it through a not so ripe piece of fruit. ... show more

I would not recommend this product for two reasons: 1) Cheap Plastic Black Piece where the cherry sits - I bought this product because it was made of stainless steel, and I thought it would be more durable. While not clear in the pictures, there's a black plastic piece that fits into the stainless opening where the cherry goes. This plastic part came out with every cherry I pitted. It also fell out when I moved the pitter from one counter to the next. Very annoying. 2) Can't pit olives - In fairness to the manufacturer, it doesn't claim to be an olive pitter. The other pitters I've owned have been able to do both. Even with the black plastic piece positioned in the stainless opening, the hole is too big and the olives fall out through the opening. ... show more
