Description

Despite the introduction of more advanced audio and video signal cables such as HDMI and Toslink most audio and a large number of video connections still use the common RCA connector. This is a premium two-channel audio cable made of RG-59 75 ohm coaxial cable. The cable uses a 22AWG conductor and is shielded to prevent EMI or RFI interference from entering your audio system. The connectors are gold plated for smooth connections and to prevent corrosion. Each connector head features embedded color-coded rubber rings to ensure a firm grip when installing or removing the cable. These cables are extremely stiff but that's because of the extremely heavy duty shielding. I get almost no static or feedback when using these cables. As far as the connections not staying on, you can use pliers to gently compress the outer conductors so that they fit more tightly. They will go on very, very tight and stay on. The outer conductors are thick and difficult to bend, once you adjust them to your liking they will stay that way. As far as cable stiffness, you can also gently bend the cable to suit your needs. It will retain that shape. For the price, these cables are extremely high quality. I actually find that they work better than more expensive cables I have from boutique brands. I've purchased Monoprice before and have always been very pleased. They make a great product. I purchased these for a short, high quality run. The cables are remarkably heavy and thicker than you'd expect due to the excellent insulation. They're very flexible, but feel like I can use it as a dog leash. That's not meant to be bad, I'm just impressed! The sound quality is terrific with no hum or extraneous sounds. One thing that a few other reviewers remarked on is that the connections are remarkably tight. That's generally a good thing but they are R E A L L Y T I G H T. They surely won't come off on their own, and it's even difficult to pull them off with your fingers. As long as you are not frequently swapping cables they are fine...just something to note. I purchased these cables to replace the thin stock RCA cables that came with my DAC, which I use to play audio from my computer via Toslink. The original cables were prone to interference, causing random humming and static that could only be cleared up by adjusting the position of the DAC or cables. The Monoprice cables solved those issues perfectly. The thicker shielding greatly reduced interference, and the audio quality now comes through crystal clear without any static. However, the thicker cables can be a bit cumbersome to manage. They tend to pull or tug on whatever they’re connected to, making cable management trickier. Additionally, in my case, the white cable doesn’t stay snug all the way into the DAC unit on my setup. If I'm not careful, it can come loose if forcibly bumped or moved too abruptly. But aside from that minor nitpick of thick cables, I’ve had no other issues. Overall, these cables have significantly improved the sound quality and reduced/eliminated interference. ... show more

Too Stiff and Plugs Too Loose, says it. The cables seem nice enough but the cables are too stiff causing the too loose plugs to pull out over time, entirely on their own. Evidently, the tension never sleeps. Eventually, I'd noticed noise in one channel and discovered that one channel was only partly inserted. The equipment is heavy and doesn't get moved so the only explanation is that the constant tension on the plugs finally pulled it out enough so that only the signal pin made contact, not the shield - hence, the static noise. Pushing it back in was only temporary - pulled straight back out. Had to relocate cables until I replace them with some that are both more flexible and have tighter plugs. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Value for money and quality. I actually split it into two Composite video cables at less cost than buying a dedicated Composite video cable. I have vintage computers and I thought the monitor was failing but I read to try a new video cable first before repairing anything. Monoprice makes quality cables and this fixed all my video signal issues.
