It was easy to build with clear instructions. I covered the wood interior with some scrap sheet metal to facilitate dust removal. I also built a small table in wheels so I can move it as needed to different locations in my shop. Very pleased with this product.

I just finished a piece made out of African Padauk which mad me appreciate how much dust I was generating with shaping and sanding. So I finally made a downflow box for the four panels I ordered. When it was done, I hooked it up to my 1300cfm dust collector with a 4" flex hose. I was somewhat disappointed with the results. Being the typical engineer I calculated the volume of the holes in a panel. One panel has ~17 sq. in of holes compared to ~12.5 of hose. With four panels, it's no wonder there was little air flow. I covered two panels with plastic and it was a good improvement. I'm still happy with the box, I know I have a large pressure drop through the 20' X 4' flex hose I'm currently using which will be mitigated when I get around to putting in real ductwork in my shop. In the meanwhile, it will be just fine with 2 panels uncovered and better than the nothing I was using before along with a respirator. The panels are well made, fit tightly together, and are a quality product. Their rating shouldn't suffer because I didn't do a simple calculation with the available information to manage my expectations. I'll make it work! ... show more

The plans for the box to use with this call for 5/8" material. A set of Rockler plans use 1/2", which I found easier to obtain in the form of mdf. These panels are very solid and seem to work well.

They work as long as the box is constructed well. I tape off some of the openings for smaller jobs but overall the are nice and work!

Made a downdraft box with these, using instructions I found on online and it fit perfectly. Define toy use a dust collector of about 2hp if you use all 4 panels. Otherwise, I’ve 2 panels for 1hp or with a shop vac. Either way, they work great and I did not encounter the slipping problem I’ve seen other reviewer mention. ... show more

I bought these because building a wood box wasn't hard, and having them would give me the flexibility of a 1x2 arrangement for sanding long pieces of wood, or I could reconfigure into a 2x2 if the item to sand is more square. Note that you still need to provide your own dust collector/section device for these to be of any use. They are built of thick metal, so quite solid. And they do what you expect. The one thing that would make them better is if the gromets in the holes had a little more grip so the wood wouldn't move around as much. ... show more
