I bought this frame clamp to replace a Bessey clamp. It is very reasonably priced compared to other frame clamps. It is very easy to use and does a great job. I have glued up at least 10 frames since I bought this clamp. It gives you a lot of clamping force and I look forward to using it

These units were about a third the cost of name brands and I needed three to get me through, so I saved a couple of hundred dollars. After sorting out some minor glitches they are reliably doing the job I need them for. I had to adjust one unit to get it to release properly - by taking apart and bending a metal tab to correct position so the release plate could retract further. I had to re attach the strap that came off the anchor end of another unit - appears the loop ends are simply glued not sewn - fixed by re glueing with epoxy. The bolts used to hold the strap and the ratchet lever to the base plates need locktite nuts and the anchor end bolt that the strap loops around needs a threadless shank or sleeve or the thread will eventually cut through the strap fibres, weakening it, causing it to fail eventually. Ideally, the side tabs on the main body lower release plate could be slightly wider, or lateral movement better constrained, to prevent the lever cams slipping off on one side. ... show more

In concept this is a handy tool for flooring installation. It helps to draw together boards that are a bit warped. The problem is that the only type of flooring where this is a problem is natural wood. With that type of flooring, this tool leaves a lot to be desired. > For 3/4" (190mm) thick boards, the C channel works great on the groove side, but isn't deep enough to properly grab on the tongue side. It needs to be longer on one of the 2 ends. > Periodically the nut comes off the screw holding the strap end. There is no lock washer or threadlock used. > On my third use the sewing of the strap loop failed and I had to re-sew it. > The ratchet is very basic. It doesn't provide a lot of leverage and the hard metal groves can dig into the hand the tighter it gets. > Finally, as others have noted, the metal is a bit too thin. The strap end (with the pressure screw) bends with use. I've had to disassemble it and flatten it back out a couple of times now. Despite these issues, the tool has worked adequately for pulling together the boards I am installing prior to nailing them in place. From what I can tell, the more expensive options on Amazon all have the same construction and the same complaints. If you want to try the tool out, this is the one to buy for the price. (Note; As someone who likes to tinker, I replaced the ratchet on mine with a larger one taken from the plethora of tie down straps I have. I also changed out the screw holding the strap to a larger diameter bolt with a nylon lock nut. It took some modification to the plates to accomplish these changes. When resewing the loop at the end of the strap, I used a heavy-duty thread, went back forth a few times, and used a box and X pattern. These modifications fixed all but the first and last issues listed above.) ... show more
