  • Really solid controller
For context, I am using this controller with a Windows 11 PC and only using it with the 2.4 GHz adapter. Also, I am using it for game development and not continuous gaming. Since I am turning it on and off a lot and switching between keyboard and controller frequently, having it wireless and rechargeable is super convenient and has worked flawlessly for me. I don't get any connection drops when I am using it and it always connects immediately when I turn it on to use it. As far as feel goes, I really love it. All of the buttons have just the right amount of resistance and give a very satisfying button click. The thumb sticks and triggers are also very nice with consistent resistance though the entire range and the hall effect sticks and triggers are a huge plus. I also like the micro texturing on the back for grip and the soft feel finish on the front. Overall, everything looks and feels very premium. ... show more

  • Pretty, mostly functional, connectivity issues
This controller is a beauty! I’ve been using the same xbox branded controller for years and years and didn’t realize that they can wear down so much. Granted, I’m a casual player and I only bag a few hours a week gaming. However, the difference in weight (this one is lighter!) and ergonomics was immediately noticeable. This one has extra buttons on the back that can be programmed, and the sticks feel good to use. The description specifies it should have no stick drift, and from what I’ve noticed so far it does not. However, this controller does have one major downside - the connectivity. It can go just fine some sessions, and others it randomly disconnects and getting it reconnected can be a pain in the rear! The battery is built in, which is a bit different than other controllers I’ve used, so it requires its own charging setup. I admit I prefer the more standard option to be able to swap out battery packs, or charge on the charging station I already own, so that is a bit of a negative. It does go through battery fairly quickly so I end up charging after each session. ... show more

  • Feature-packed controller with a few trade-offs
I picked this up because it combines Hall effect sticks, wireless flexibility, and extra back buttons—all in one controller. That’s not something you usually get bundled together, so I wanted to see how it actually holds up in regular use. The Hall effect sticks are probably the highlight. Movement feels smooth and consistent, and knowing they’re less prone to drift over time is a big plus. Stick tension is a little lighter than a standard Xbox controller, but still accurate enough for shooters and general gameplay. Connectivity is another strong point. The ability to switch between 2.4GHz (with the included dongle), Bluetooth, and wired makes it easy to use across different setups. On PC—especially wired—it feels responsive and stable with no dropouts during testing. The extra features are genuinely useful, not just there for marketing. The trigger locks make a noticeable difference in faster-paced games, and the back buttons are easy to map on the fly without digging through menus. Where it shows its price point a bit is in the feel of certain parts. The shell is slightly lighter, and the bumpers and triggers don’t have quite the same solid, dampened feel as an official Xbox controller—they’re a bit more “clicky” and hollow. It doesn’t affect performance, but you do notice it in hand. Also worth knowing—the 1000Hz polling rate is only in wired PC mode. If you’re using it wirelessly or on console, you won’t see that same performance bump. Battery life has been solid, and the included long USB-C cable is actually practical for charging while playing. Overall, this gives you a lot of modern features—Hall effect sticks, back buttons, trigger locks—in one controller, but if you care most about premium feel and refinement, the official Xbox controller still has the edge there. ... show more

  • Finally, a Controller That Solves the Biggest Issues
I’ve been using the PowerA Advantage Wireless Controller in the "Beach Vibes" colorway, and it has quickly become my go-to for both Xbox and PC gaming. Here are my thoughts... The Hall Effect sensors are great. Since they use magnets instead of physical contact points, they don't wear down over time. The precision is incredible, and knowing I won't have to buy a replacement in six months due to drift is a huge relief. The "Beach Vibes" gradient is really cool. The pastel pink, teal, and purple look even better in person—it adds a nice pop of personality to my setup compared to the standard black or white controllers. The 1000Hz polling rate is fantastic for competitive titles. The input lag is virtually non-existent, making it feel incredibly responsive during fast-paced matches. It works seamlessly with my Xbox Series X, but the Bluetooth compatibility makes it just as easy to jump over to Cloud Gaming on my phone or laptop. It’s rare to find a controller that looks this good while packing high-end specs like Hall Effect sticks and a high polling rate at this price point. It feels great in the hand, the buttons are tactile and responsive, and it's officially licensed, so you know the quality is there. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Very attractive controller, easy to connect and start using
So I got this controller because I like the design. Works well. Plug and Play. Joysticks are pretty hefty on feedback and feel really durable. It has good hand feel and ergonomics. Problems start with the Gamer HQ app not understanding this is a PowerA controller so I can't remap the buttons. That seems like a big miss since I got this to use with a PC. Looks great. Inability to use the company's app is a real problem. Maybe OK if you are strictly going to use if you XBox. Maybe try something else for PC unless you just have to have the design. ... show more
