On August 30, 1972, John Lennon & Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant's Memory and guests headlined 2 historic ONE TO ONE concerts at Madison Square Garden, NYC. These benefit shows played to a combined audience of 40K people and helped raise over $1.5 million to support children with disabilities. They were his only full-length concerts after leaving the Beatles and the last shows John & Yoko performed together. Produced by Sean Ono Lennon, both concerts have been completely remixed and re-engineered by Paul Hicks and Sam Gannon, using new HD multitrack transfers by Rob Stevens with mixes mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road. Super Deluxe Edition: 9 CDs, 103 tracks, lenticular cover, 204-page book, newsprint poster, 2 postcards, 2 sticker sheets, 2 replica tickets, VIP backstage pass & VIP after-show invitation. The concerts are presented separately as `afternoon,' `evening' and `hybrid' shows on 3 HD Audio Blu-ray discs in HD Stereo, 5.1 Surround & Dolby Atmos.

    • What would John Lennon say about censuring his material?
This Super Deluxe John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band box set is an absolute treasure for any Lennon fan. The sound quality is superb, the packaging is top-notch, and the amount of extra material included makes it a true collector’s item. However, I was surprised and disappointed to see that “Woman Is the N**** of the World”* was omitted. Regardless of how controversial the song title is, it’s an essential part of Lennon’s body of work and his social commentary — leaving it out makes the set feel incomplete. I also don’t understand why “Sisters, O Sisters” is missing from the live concert portion, since it’s part of that historic performance. Overall, this is an excellent and lovingly produced set, but those omissions keep it from being truly definitive. ... show more

Its a sad day when John Lennon is censored by his own state. If there is ONE thing John Lennon stood for during his life was freedom of expression. From his comments on Jesus during Beatlemania to his Two Virgins cover, he always spoke his mind and changed the world because of it. Removing his songs from this boxset because they could be offensive to some people is an outrage. ... show more
