  • Excellent
I’m late in the game. But I’ve caught up at 72. Favorite favorite songs but love Mississippi kid.

  • Excellent debut album by a legendary group!
This is a fine album, and a great introduction to Lynyrd Skynyrd, who made their mark with monumental tracks like "Gimme Three Steps", "I Ain't the One", "Tuesday's Gone" and if course the band's magnum opus "Free Bird". Vocalist Ronnie Van Zant delivers his own unique brand of raw, blues-meets-country vocals on tracks like "Mississippi Kid" while also delivering epic ballads like "Tuesday's Gone." Guitarists Allen Collins and Gary Rossington steal the show with hard hitting, face melting riffs and solos like Rossington's country tinged picking on "Gimme Three Steps" and bluesy slide guitar on "Free Bird." Collins's epic "Free Bird" solo is in-your-face intense and crumbles mountains to the sea. So whenever someone says "Leonard who!?" Put this album on and introduce them to these Southern gentlemen. ... show more

  • Excellent album
My soon was a Newbie to vinyl and immediately scratched it so he can’t use it. That’s no fault of the record just user error. So he displayed it instead

  • Plays great W/Caveat
Pros: Sounds great and that's the most important thing! Cons: Doesn't look like the record shown on the ad, mines red with some splotching Slightly warped Other thoughts: The album got to me overnight, that hasn't happened in quiet awhile. I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to get the record out of its jacket, it was stuck... The record was slightly bent when I pulled it out of its packaging (what's up Amazon?) Other than the slight wobble in the record it plays well, and sounds great, isn't the reason to buy for great sound? $25 is a bit steep though for a warped album, not returning it because it doesn't affect the play. ... show more

  • Fantastic album!
Simple man is one of the most beautiful pieces of music to ever grace my ears and is the reason I purchased this album, free bird is great of course but everyone already knows that. The thing that really surprised me though is that the rest of the album is really good too and I wouldn't consider anything filler. A great start to my newly found hobby of collecting records (: ... show more

  • If you like bonus tracks
If you like bonus tracks this has Five. I personally wish they would stick to the original release format and keep the bonus tracks and send me the CD without a cracked jewel case.
