I purchased this for one very important reason. I'm disabled and live in a really bad neighborhood. Every other night, we're calling 911 about gun shots. One poor guy was even shot in front of our house and the house next door was all shot up. What does a megaphone have to do with gun shots you ask? Well, read on. The house I live in was left to me by my mother. I am the third generation to live here. It's been in our family for at least 80 years. About 20 years ago, the church on the corner bought up a couple of houses on the street with the intention of expanding. And they'd done so. However, because my mother refused to sell this one to them they've done nothing but make our lives miserable. When my mom was still alive, they called the health department on her for pretty much anything they could think of. One of which was a claim that she was literally throwing human feces over the fence onto the playground. ((( She NEVER did any such thing ))) The rules of building on Ohio property is they cannot be any closer than 24 inches to our house. And that is EXACTLY how far the sidewalk is they put in for people dropping of the children for "Head Start". While there is a huge parking lot in front of their building, actually they have 3 large parking lots. Parents are not allowed to use any of the parking lots. So instead, they have to park on my street, walk up the long walkway, and into the building. As I mentioned before, I'm in a very bad neighborhood. While the people that live on my street are for the most part very nice and respectable of one another. Those from the outside aren't. They block our driveways, park in our driveways, and even in the middle of the street. They'll leave their car running while taking their little one's to daycare. To top it off they leave their music turned all the way up! I always have to turn my television up to hear over what these buttheads are doing outside. I hear them as they're walking their children inside and hear them when they're walking back to their parked running cars. I've put up signs asked they turn their music down because we work and sleep all hours. I've posted a sign on my fence that divides the properties, and I've even literally said something to them asking them to please turn their music down. I am done!!!! This wonderfully loud megaphone is going to be used only for those that continue to ignore our request. The moment they walk in front of my dinning room window I'm letting them have it! And I can't wait for one of them to have the nerve to call the police. I honestly wish one of the idiots shooting guns around here at night would show up during the daytime and drive off with one of their cars!!!! What nonsense! Leaving a running unlocked car unattended for at least 10 minutes!!!! This megaphone is very loud! And I cannot wait to use it!!!!!

I am giving this a 4 stars because it worked in a pinch, arrived quickly when I had little money, and because I was pretty hard on it this last school year. I was using it 4-6 times a day for 20 minutes or more at a time intermittently. For not much money, if you can be more careful than I, it might be exactly what you need. Benefit: it was a lot lighter than the professional one I borrowed before. I like the wrist strap once I got accustomed to the unit hanging by my side. It still works even if it's not pretty anymore and has been dropped and kicked countless times! It is great to communicate to kids (without yelling!). Drawbacks: When I accidentally kicked it a few times (as it hung by my side on the wrist strap) the batteries flew onto the ground! The trigger to the battery compartment is easily released unintentionally. The last time I accidentally dropped it, the handle completely broke off! When the batteries begin to lose power the unit will screech and garble. This will happen even if it is switched off! I began to remove all the batteries and flip them inside the compartment at the end of every use. This causes it to need a moment of setup prior to each use as well. Even though this unit needs replacement it still works and I will likely store it at school broken and hobbled and duct taped together as a backup unit should I utterly destroy the next one as well. That said; I'm going to try spending a little more money this time for something I use for games and instruction nonstop four times a day I should be ready to invest more heavily! But, if you are strapped for cash, this unit will spare your throat immeasurably.

I bought this in 2014 to "emcee" the activities for a child's birthday party, and it was perfect for that. It was loud enough to hear over music played on an ihome-type radio and about 10-12 squealing tween girls for a pretend fashion show. I used it again yesterday for a small raffle event, and the kids had a blast taking turns using it to make their little announcements. I don't know that this would be sufficient for really big, noisy events, but it was great for the indoor party and for the outdoor raffle event, which was on the sidewalk outside an ice cream parlor during the after school rush, and had crowds of about a dozen middle schoolers or less at a time. Also, I saw some reviewers said it doesn't play the Ole Ole song. Mine does (purchased 2 years ago so maybe they've changed it?) but the song is loud, grainy and annoying and the kids can't resist pushing that button, so you might count yourselves lucky not to have that effect! I give this five stars for my purposes and for the great price, but keep your expectations realistic!

I was unsure if the megaphone would work like a real one because of the good price. I know it might sound ridiculous, but I purchased this to "yell" at my kids...lol. I have a soft voice and 3 rowdy ADHD children. Its really hard for me to get their attention when their occupied and I physically am unable to raise my voice loud enough for them to notice without hurting my throat. A friend jokingly suggested I get a megaphone, and so I actually did. It works great! Of course in the house I don't have the volume set to full, because it is very loud. Just half way is all I need to grab the attention from the kiddos. A bonus is when my teenager is down the street, I turned the volume all the way up and yelled her name. She was able to hear me on the street away! Might seem silly to people, but it works perfectly for me. I could see this useful to those during protest and when in noisy environments. Dare I say this would be a handy tool for the classroom???

I prefer to give myself some time using a product before giving my review. Rather than writing a review that says “it works as advertise.” With that being said, I like this bullhorn speaker because of its ease of use, its light weight and it is well made. Below are my pros and cons: Pros • Durable and well made • Easy to use • Only three buttons along with the volume slider • Good sound quality • Pretty inexpensive Cons • Strap is on the short side, more suitable for carrying around the wrist • The music and alarm function are loud, but the speaking function is on the low side. I took a picture of the bullhorn next to my 14 watts Bluetooth speaker which is louder. • If you are looking for greater volume you should consider a 50 watts bullhorn speaker. All things being equal, I like this bullhorn speaker and do recommend it.
