This seat is narrow compared to the Ozark Trail brand. Also feels more jagged and sharp at the edges. They both have a little instability with keeping the lid from falling off but that's fine. I returned this and kept the Ozark Trail.

    • So many uses
I can't say enough good things about this. I originally bought it for an emergency like a quake or flood but realized it serves two purposes. After receiving it I thought of a third. I have dogs and keep an open 5 gallon bucket for yard poo. It smells and fills with rain water. This works for both emergency and for the dogs, but I realized there is a third use. For weeks I have been trying to figure out a compost container for my kitchen. Years ago I had a fancy metal red one but unless you use the expensive bags, the metal rusts out. It also had a filter thingy that you couldn't clean or get filters for. It was so small that you had to dump it right after putting anything in so it was useless. I keep a five gallon bucket in my kitchen and dump it every couple of days but I get flies and I am afraid it will attract mice. So I am going to get another one of these seats specifically for my kitchen compost bucket. For $12 it really is neat. It snaps onto the bucket yet is easy to remove and contours on the seat and bucket prevent rain from getting in and smell from getting out. The seat has a bit of springiness to it so it closes itself easily and is made of really good plastic. Well done Amazon! ... show more

I have had these before and this version is really crappy (lol) in comparison. There are lots of sharp edges that I had to sand down. There's a lid latch that is quite a struggle to open. I'll probably end up filing it down. And the seat is 40% narrower. If you get it for very rare usage, I'm sure that it is functional. I use them at my off-grid cabin for weeks at a time. With DIY improvements (sanding, filing), they will be OK, but definitely not nice like the previous ones. ... show more
