  • Good value...
Received all 7 films for a decent price. I’ll agree with others that the last 3 movies in the set were kinda unnecessary, but I’m one of those people who has to have the whole set of movies if there are sequels and this 7 disc set is less expensive than “renting” the movies off VUDU at $2.99 each, which was the only streaming service I could find them on. These movies are in no way a depiction of real life. They’re made to make you laugh and give you some mindless entertainment for an hour and a half or so. These were also favorites of mine in my younger days and always fun to rewatch. The disc themselves are visually okay, and I’ve only watched the first movie so far and it played fine on my old dollar general DVD player. I’ll update the review on the actual playback of the movies when I watch the rest of the series. ... show more

  • awesome
Seller is awesome. Product arrived ahead of time. The series is nostalgic to me in that I grew up with the series. The series actually inspired me to go into police work. Each character can be found in real life. I am a twenty year veteran of law enforcement. Although some of the series is unrealistic--each of the characters have a life and can be found within your local law enforcement community. Whether or not if you believe it---there are Tackelberry's, Mahoney's, and Hightowers, serving you on a daily basis. Police officers are as as genuine as anybody else in the world. This series casts a comedic life about the work---even as dark as it may be in real life. Police officers like to have fun as anyone else---don't let the negative influence the positive. We believe in justice and the sanctity of your lifestyle----whether or not we have fun enforcing the same. The Police Acedemy series is just a glimpse into the world of law enforcement. It's really not far from reality.) ... show more

  • Police Academy - The Complete Collection
A rag-tag group of individuals, for different reasons, join together to help fight crime! Where could it go wrong? A movie so popular, that it spawned 6 sequels, with a new one on the way, making a total of 8 in the near future. Regardless of people's opinions on the quality of later films, the first few remain classics in most people's hearts. Well, at least mine. Police Academy: 20th Anniversary Box set features all seven films, in widescreen format except for 3 of them. Each disc contains a 6 to 10 minute featurette with original cast members shedding light on some of their favorite scenes. 1. Police Academy The film that brought audiences to their knees with laughter, Police Academy was one of the pioneers of 80's comedy. After several attempts at trying to make it on the outside, Steve Gutenberg as Carey Mahoney is given the choice of facing jail time or doing something with his life and becoming a police cadet as a favor from one of his parent's friends. Carey soon discovers that he is not unlike his odd group of counterparts, including Larvell Jones, played by stand-up comedian Michael Winslow, a human microphone, the late David Graf as Eugene Tackleberry, a life-time NRA member if there ever was one, and former NFL star, Bubba Smith as Moses Hightower, a man whos passion to fight crime is just as much as his penchant for flowers. 1st best out of 7. 2. Police Academy: Their First Assignment The majority of the previous film's stars come back for the sequel, but the person who truly steals the show is Bobcat Goldwaith's Zed, a quintessential 80's hardrocking thug, who just happens to love Family Affairs and is a vegetarian. Hey, at least he has morals. Also, SNL allum Tim Kazurinsky is the Zed's polar opposite in the role of Sweetchuck. 2nd best out of 7. 3. Police Academy 3: Back in Training Sadly, the role that the series was previously on beins it decline with the third installment as we loose G.W. Bailey's excellent character, Lieu. Harris. Art Metrano is instead brought in as a replacement as Cmndt. Mauser, but fails to equal the same side-splitting laughs. The saving grace in this film is Lance Kinsey's Capt. Proctor, a loveable, well-meaning suck-up/lackey to Mauser. Set in a different location, the third film has it's moments, but can not compare to the previous installments. 5th best out of 7. Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol When budgets have become next to none, and crime is at it's top, what other choice does the city have but to ask of it's citizens to become volunteer policemen? Now in their third movie, Zed and Sweetchuck once again steal the show. With several great aerial stunts, breakthrough roles from Tony Hawk and David Spade, the fourth movie definately makes up for the 3rd film. 3rd best out of 7 Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach By the fifth film, the series had lost most of it's original cast, but it desperatly tried to revive the series with new cast members and new locations. Probably the most kid friendly of the whole series, filled with more oddball/dumb humor, it easily out ranks #3 as the worst yet. 6th best out of 7. Police Academy 6: City Under Siege Once again, with a lose of the majority of original characters, times are hard for the series, but City Under Siege tries it's best to do what it can with what it has. One of the more memorable and funny in the series, #6 delivers with some great laughs, but fails to match the previous movie's sucess and ranks 4th out of 7. Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow With only 5 of the original cast members left, for some odd reason the officers are picked to go to Moscow to help stop an evil Russian sterotypical character played by Ron Perlman. Perlman's character has created ... show more

  • You can’t beat this box set!. As a movie buff, this is the only way to go. Love it!
As a fan of movies and of dvds, this is the only way to go. I hate combo packs of movies that don’t give respect to each individual movie, so this box set with each movie in their own case with their own disc and their original artwork, this is the best. I love it. Totally worth the movie. Forget combo dvds or depending on some streaming service to have the movie when you want to watch it. When you own your own movies, you are in total control. DVDs forever! ... show more

  • A good deal if you can get it cheap...
The first two movies are really good, 3-4 are pretty good, 5-6 are "meh" and 7 is just a mess. Seems like the more of the main cast they lost, the more the movies went downhill. I bought this used really cheap so I think I got a good deal, but I would have just gotten the budget disc with 1-4 if it hadn't been. ... show more

  • I would join if Police jobs were like this!
I watched the entire DVD collection and it was more than great. It's one of those movies that I would watch over and over again. I still like to think about the most random things that happened and they do always make me laugh. I told my younger brother who wants to be a cop "if this was real police work, I'll be already in" I wish they made more. Todays movies are somewhat funny. I use to be a scary movie fan but most of those movies have the same theme. I now switched to comedy. ... show more
