After using an earlier generation Polar sensor for many years, I decided to buy this one when I bought a Garmin Venu 2 smart watch recently. The earlier Polar model couldn't be paired with the Venu 2. This H9 model paired with Venu 2 very readily, and it's communicating my heart rate to it as reliably as one would expect. My one and only complaint is with the elastic band's clasping design. It's extremely simple, and it's in that simplicity that I think Polar missed the boat. There's a thin plastic hook that one inserts into a small fabric "eye." Not only is the fabric's opening so small that it can be hard to see, but it has a tendency to come unhooked occasionally. The design could be much improved with an equally simple snap. Otherwise, the band is comfortable; and the transmitter functions great. Update after 2 months: After using the H9 6 times a week, it needs a battery (CR2025) after only 2 months . Perhaps the original battery was of low quality. I would have expected longer battery life. Fortunately, it's designed so that the battery is easy to change. ... show more

    • When you need accuracy
Size: M-XXL
I was having some reliability issues with my Samsung smart watch. Normally, it worked well enough for a general idea, but I got into some physical therapy where it was important to know exactly my heart rate. I was even having problems with the therapist's finger model misreading at times. My heart rate wad all over the place. I thought back to the old dayd when I used to race mountain bikes and the only monitor available then was the polar strap. I read the reviews of its accuracy and decided to purchase and try it out. The first day at therapy, the Polar heart rate monitor was clearly more accurate than either my watch on the wrist or the finger thing they had. The therapist said to just wear the strap and she would use that for all the measurements. I cannot express how much relief it provided me to precisely know my heart rate. I had some condition where my heart rate was through the roof ... 90bpm resting, 140bpm sauntering, 170bpm with a quick walk. But, with Polar heart rate monitor and app, I was able to stay in my target ranges, show my therapist my results, and progressively bring them back down the last 5 months so that my resting is in the high 60s bpm and I can play basketball again. Man, the strap really made the difference! ... show more

    • Reliable and Comfortable
Size: M-XXL
I’ve had this monitor for about two months. I use it almost everyday. It’s never lost a connection. Prior to the Polar I tried a cheap, well reviewed no name unit. That one dropped the connection almost every time I used it. For me the extra money for the Polar is worth it. Dropped connections are frustrating. The strap is comfortable and easy to adjust. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Great Budget HR monitor.
Size: XS-S
No frills HR monitor. Like I've read on other reviews, the strap is a bit tight even at the max adjustment. Will purchase a bigger one. Liked the App, though it took a couple mins to learn the navigation. HR is spot on. and the Stats were very helpful in my training. Overall great buy.

Easy connect to phone. Tracks multiple workouts. You do need to wash the band. Can pause workout and continue. Has rowing app but not sure if accurate distance when using erg, but you can edit distance.

    • Game Changer
Size: M-XXL
Purchased this to monitor my heart rate during cycling. I've been using it every day. Works great. I've used it for cycling, hiking, and at Cross Fit. The monitor automatically connected to the exercise bike at the gym. Using this just to track my heart rate has been helpful in achieving my goals. I also use the Polar App that it conveniently pairs with. The app gives great information too. ... show more
