this is a perfect game for keeping kids entertained at a restaurant - we don’t use the board . it’s also extremely funny and i think deceptively educational as it teaches you how to take a concept and simplify it .

    • Fun for the Entire family-but a little help needed for an eight year old.

This was so much fun! Ages 8-73 were all laughing and struggling to find single syllable words to get us to guess the word on the cards. Everyone loved the blowup Neanderthal club/bat thing too. Imagine all your friends and/or family acting like Bam-Bam, the little boy from The Flinstones cartoon. It was an additional element that initially seemed unnecessary but quickly proved to be a brilliant addition that kept everyone involved, no matter what team was taking its turn guessing. We had the player of the opposite team standing over the person giving the clues…it was so funny watching everyone on both sides play different parts of the Neanderthal theme. The rules are also wonderful from a growth mindset perspective. It is almost inevitable each person, at some point, will say part of the word on their card or use a multi-syllable word without thinking but the rules are that you just lose a point and move onto the next card, as long as time is still left on the timer. So a mistake doesn’t become upsetting to those who may be overly competitive or “intense.” Note for younger players: I was worried it would be hard for my 8 year old nephew to fully grasp the single syllable rule for giving clues and to still feel like he was having fun playing a game vs feeling like he was in school or something. He struggled a little at the beginning. He did eventually get the hang of it but we also purposely chose either his Mom or myself as the one from the other team, standing next to him with the blow-up club, so we could whisper ideas or words to prompt him if he was struggling with a clue. We weren’t telling him what to say though…it’s hard to explain but if you have younger kids there’s likely so,done there who will know what I mean. He was so proud when he’d get us to guess the right thing and he had a blast playing the Bam-Bam part as well. We all did. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ... show more

The club is defective. We couldn't blow it up. After looking at it with a bright light and magnifying glass, we could see that there wasn't a hole cut into the oral inflation valve. Clearly a defect. Played this with a group of friends ages 20ish to 50+ at a conference. Such. A. Blast! I purchased it on Amazon the very next morning, and got to play it at a family gathering the following weekend. Another mixed group of mid-teens, mostly 50-somethings, and a 70+. Ridiculous, good, clean, thoughtful fun. The kids loved bopping their parents on the head with the inflatable club, and the parents loved bopping the kids on the heads as well. My only warning is- you will have a hard time shaking thinking/talking like a Neanderthal for at least a few hours afterward. Game is a blast and I highly recommend! ... show more

This is a family favorite game, and yes, we even played this version with the whole family (grandma included). This game has a simple concept, yet is fun for all ages. Kind of like a verbal charades, where you describe the clues in sentences consisting of 1 syllable words. You may think that would be easy, but "not so true for play this game; must use small words in phrase to win points, or may get hit with soft bat if wrong". Love this game.
