I have seen this style of wire stripper for many years, but never got one, as I was happy with my previous style of wire stripper. After using this, I see I should have upgraded years ago, as this one feels nicer, and seems to work better for most wires. The wire crimpers and cutter are built into the handle. The wire cutter part is closer to the pivot point, so it doesn't require too much force to cut wire. I was trying to cut off a connector, and I ended up cutting the connector in half, so the cutters part is pretty decent. The crimper part of this tool is closer to the handles, so requires quite a bit of force. But the biggest problem with the crimper (and why I gave that part 3 stars), is the fact that they won't stay aligned. There is too much lateral play when you're crimping really hard on a connector. There are 3 crimper parts for insulated connectors, and 3 crimper parts for uninsulated connectors, but the instructions don't accurately reflect that. This wire stripper, in my tests, is not suitable for wire with thin insulation, like the wire from a network cable, because it just cuts the wire in half. No adjustment of the tension control would help it this situation. But for everything else, it worked great. For cable with normal insulation, this worked as well as it possibly could. The problems I had, were not unique to this wire stripper. For larger wire, you may have to rotate the wire 90 degrees, and operate the stripper twice. And if you want to strip off a a tiny bit of insulation, like 1/8 inch, then it probably also won't work that well for you. But for normal wire stripping tasks, on various sizes and types of insulation, this worked very well. It would not nick my wire, unless I have the tension crazy tight. So, my conclusion is, get this for the wire stripper, not the crimper. If you need a crimper, this will get you by in a pinch, but do yourself a favor, and invest in a proper crimper if you need one, because this ain't it. For the wire stripper, this is pretty good, and the best of this style of strippers that I've used before, so I can recommend this one.

This review is linked to the wrong item and I don't know how to fix this. What I received is a wire crimping tool. It is a very well built item. I tested this on different types of wire and, once you have it adjust properly, it makes crimping wire very easy. It's a nice tool if you have a lot of wire to strip.

These wire strippers are a pretty good value. The auto adjustment is a nice feature. And the inclusion of a wire cutter and a crimper in the same tool means less tools in my bag. The only real complaint I have is the jaw opening could be bigger. I was trying to use it on some outdoor speaker wire and the shielding was too fat to fit the whole thing in. After I cut back the shielding I was able to strip the inner wires fine.

I have used the Irwin (Vise Grips) version of this style stripper for many years and I like them a bunch. Recently got to try these and they worked great on #10 stranded when I realized that all my older strippers with the set slots only went up to #10 solid/#12 stranded. Gripped well and stripped easily. I like how this style strippers can leave the jacket on the wire so you can manually collect the pieces. That's a plus if you want to avoid having the little jacket pieces go flying all over the place. Time will tell how long they last but they work great out of the package.

As a retired electrical specialist working with motor vehicles I have always wanted quality wire strippers. I have found that automatic strippers like this to be my favourites. My last pair lasted me over a decade. They are still working but do tend to slip at times, indicating that they will be needing replacement soon. There are a few types of automatic strippers with this particular being great for stripping wires within a tight area. You can even split the vinyl coating in the middle in order to splice in another wire. This comes in a blister pack and has an adjustment that allows you to strip thick or thin wiring. There is also a set of crimps down on the inside of the handles. The cardboard backing on the blister pack has instructions on use. Size notes are also found on the plastic handle. I found them to strip wire without any slippage. I did, however, find that the cutter does slightly cut into the copper wire as it holds it in place. Not that it is going to be an issue, but they did advertise it as not cutting into the copper wire. All in all, I like this tool. It may not be as good as my worn out one was when new, but then, that tool cost three times this does and that was over 10 years ago. This is well worth the cost.

The listing for this tool is titles "Wire Crimping Tools" but its primary function and the one it excels at is wire stripping. The tool works well to cut and remove the wire jacket in one quick movement. I compared this against my Vise Grip brand tool which is similar. The Exceedconn managed wire of the various gauges listed which it supports just as well as the Vise Grip one. There were a couple of areas where the tool did not meet quality of the Vise Grip. First the feel of the handle, the red plastic is more rigid plastic than I would prefer for comfort and the black plastic parts were softer but did not have the best feel either. Overall, it was not the best possible feel although it was still very functional. Second, the wire strip length guide (red plastic) was too easily bumped to a different setting so great care is needed to make sure you are cutting correctly. The crimping portion of the tool works but would not really be my first choice of tool for that task. This is true of both this tool as well as the Vise Grip version that I have. The wire cutting portion of the Exceedconn works fine and is at a good leverage point making it easy even for thicker wire.
