I bought this helmet because at the time of purchase it was #1 on Virgina Tech's helmet ratings. It fits well and is the first helmet I have ever bought that did not need a break in period - no headache or temple pressure on my first ride. There are much cheaper helmets out there that are safe, but if maximum safety and comfort are your top priorities and your budget is not really an issue, this is a great helmet.

This is obviously a top of the line product, and is indeed very well designed, with all the accessories that make an helmet (slightly) better than products that were around on the market just 4-5 years ago. What did not work for me was the size, and, strangely enough, the air vents. The size medium runs small, it is the first medium I ever owned that does not fit. The specs indicate a smaller then usual 58 cm (more standard is 59), but the pressure point was toward the sides of the temples, so no way to make it fit. The air vents? Too big. Sounds crazy but they do channel a huge amount of air right at the top of your head. Probably great if you ride in hot weather (but wear sun screen!), but were I live (on the North-California coast) a 60F/15C ride was suddenly very cold. A cap of some sort would be mandatory for fall/winter riding. So I sent it back.

The main thing is that it is at the top of the Virginia tech safety ratings. That said, the helmet is comfortable and well ventilated. The straps are easy to adjust with a magnetic closure which is easy to open. Together, it's not only the safest helmet I've had, but also the most comfortable.

I was never made aware of what RECCO actually is and nobody really knows what that is except for search and rescue. When my helmet came, I saw this badge on there talking about RECCO. I just skim over the tags on most stuff, but that one caught my attention because that one starts telling you that you can be tracked and RECCO doesn't run off of batteries. It runs off of reflectivity. So you now have a non-removable RECCO tracking reflector device built right into a helmet that you bought with your own money. I'm not thrilled about it, so I knocked off one star, but there's a trade-off. If something actually does happen, you want that. But if you're in SHTF and now you've got somebody who has a RECCO tracking device and they're trying to find out where you're at, you can either protect your head or you can protect yourself, but you can't protect both. Now I know why it's called a piece of crap (POC) helmet, but I just really hope that at least the MIPS standard really is as high as they say it is. FYI, RECCO is reflective in the same way that credit cards and other things that you have in your person are, but credit cards and other reflective surfaces sound different to someone searching and they aren't as powerful as these RECCO reflectors. So that calms my nerves a little bit, at least knowing that I'm already carrying stuff on me that can get me tracked, aside from my cell phone, of course. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how Search and Rescue uses RECCO, and they're saying it's really widespread, and the helicopters can dangle a RECCO detector device to find people that way, or they can use a RECCO gun to search on the ground. So, it's not inconceivable that a drone would be able to pick up RECCO signals bouncing back. Be careful what you buy. It's probably best to put a piece of tape or something over it so that it can't reflect signals unless you want to be able to reflect the signals. But then you're assuming you're conscious. So it's really a trade-off.

Awesome helmet! I love POC helmets. Very durable. Twice now they have saved my life and my son's life. My boy had an otb accident. The front visor shattered upon impact and the helmet cracked slightly upfront. However he is alive and we love POC. Buy their helmets. They're the best
