  • PNY is worth the money
Capacity: 1TB Style: Card
I bought two of these 1TB PNY microSD Cards. They seem to perform quite well. I am not so concerned with the write speeds as once I place my files on them, they will only need to be accessed to read speeds. I went with PNY over other brands because I trust PNY and their guarantees. I have many many microSD cards for many devices. I'm sticking with PNY. I've had 3 cards go bad over the years. Put them all in a drawer. One was a Samsung microSD. One was a Sandisk microSD. And the third was a PNY microSD card. I sent each one to the manufacturer under warranty. PNY was the only company that stood by its warranty. They sent me a brand new replacement card. This earned my complete respect and its why I just bought two 1TB from them this time, even thought the Sandisk 1TB card was cheaper on Amazon. In the past I always bought Sandisk as my preference but no more. I will not buy any Sandisk product ever again. They kept my faulty card and never responded. I do not recommend anyone buy Sandisk. I've crossed them off the list. Also Samsung, never responded and kept the faulty card. Does not stand by their warranty either. I recommend that noone buy any Samsung microSD cards. Off the list. Buy from PNY. ... show more

  • Sustained large file write tops out at 85mb/s. Heat issues.
Capacity: 1TB Style: Card
This may seem like a critical review, however there are two main issues at stake here. What is claimed, and what is actually possible. I bought this card because it is A2 current rated, and it seems to be a good value for a 1Tb card. The copy claims that it supports 90mb/s write, and it seems like the card will actually do this speed. The caveat here is that it gets pretty hot after about 25gb sustained writing, and with my UGREEN SD Card Reader USB 3.0 Type C OTG Memory Card Adapter Portable it will start unmounting and remounting from Windows 10, and it gets hot to the touch. I measured it with an infrared sensor and it showed 95d F. The ambient in this case was 76d F. This seems to also be true of other brands as well, my Samsung EVO 512GB A1 U3, and 256GB SD cards do the same thing. I've solved this problem for the most part by using an extender cable to plug the SD card reader into. Essentially this cable limits the speed to 40mb/s. Cards don't get hot enough to freak out at this sustained write speed, but it kind of defeats the purpose. That said, I think in most applications the writes are burst and aren't 1-2 hours of sustained 85mb/s transfer. This card seems to get the least hot over time at 40mb/s continuous multi hour writes. Barely warm to the touch. Another caveat is that this card draws enough current from my USB hub to weaken the radio range on my logitech mouse. I have not yet tested continuous high speed reads, but I expect they would have less impact. What does this mean? When recording movies, even a nice high quality movie at 4k won't come close to 40mb/s throughput, so this card will probably not overheat in a camera. I think the Windows 10 sustained copy stress test is probably the hardest you could drive it, and doesn't represent real world use in a camera or phone. Take aways: All SD cards I've tested suffer from overheating in sustained read or write at full speed for more than 10 minutes. This card seems to overheat less than other cards that I own @40mb/s, Samsung EVO A1 cards to be specific. So far none of my cards have failed even after overheat mount and dismounts, which notably did not corrupt the data. Limiting Data transfer rates to reasonable real world applications indicates that this card is a good value for the money in terms of performance and size. Why did I rate it four stars? I considered rating it three stars. It's good, not amazing. I can't expect to run a copy to a card at full USB3.0 spec for 100 minutes (500gb of files) without running into issues, and so I'm forced to use a cable extender to limit the bandwith. If it could run at 85mb/s full write for hours without burning up, that would be a 5 star review. @40mb/s it gets a little warm. Compare this to my EVO 512 card which gets hot at 40mb/s. I have tested the Samsung cards in other card readers, and the same issues arise, so I don't think the USB reader itself is the issue. Specifically I had similar issues with my FALWEDI USB/HDMI/SDcard/Ethernet/VGA adapter that I have on my laptop. It is a C type USB, and can also run at 90ish mb/s. Edit: But wait you say, doesn't this card have a V30 rating? It's only rated at 30mb/s. Yes, so why does it have the sales copy saying 150mb/s read and 90mb/s write? I don't know, and the card slowly slows down to 20-30mb/s for very long writes. So the card is mostly doing what the numbers on it say, and the sales copy is a bit hype. It would be interesting to setup a peltier cooler to the SD card reader to see if you could run a sustained write at full speed. I'll leave this as an exercise for the reader. Update: I did actually set up a peltier cooler to cool the SD card, and it is possible to do sustained high speed data transfers using it. ... show more

  • Purchased for Steam Deck
Capacity: 1TB Style: Card
This is the fastest of the 1TB V30 SD cards that is compatible with the Steam Deck. You can buy slower SD cards and only notice the speed in a few titles. However this SD card is one of the SD cards that formats without any additional interaction from the Steam Deck OS side. Moving files from the M.2 Storage to this SD Card is also faster than most other SD cards. The SD card did not eject or come lose during drop tests, nor impact tests. If you have the few extra dollars for this SD card, it is defiantly a great choice for the Steam Deck. I have not tested this card in any v30, v60, v90 compatible Camera. i only tested this card in the Steam Deck. ... show more

  • Good for drone usage
Capacity: 256GB Style: Card
good transfer speeds for my DJI Mini. Not sure of the transfer rates for the 4k when I’m recording but there are no signs of any lag or long periods of time before being able to record another run. Flew in the rain a few times and no issues with the card getting wait so far.
