  • Reliable, Waterproof, and Perfect for DIY Projects – Works Like a Charm!
Style: 1-Pack
Packaging and First Impressions The converter arrives in a small anti-static bag with no extra fluff—just the module and a tiny instruction card. It’s compact (about the size of a matchbox) and fully potted in black epoxy, which gives it a rugged, professional look. The open wires are pre-stripped and clearly labeled: Input (Red +, Black -), Output (Black -, Yellow +). Wire length is generous at around 6 inches each, making soldering or connectors easy. The mounting ears with screw holes are a nice touch for permanent installs. Overall, it feels solid and truly waterproof. Ease of Use Installation couldn’t be simpler: Connect red and black to your 12V or 24V source, yellow and black to your 5V device, and you’re done. No soldering required if you use quick-connects or wire nuts. I appreciated the clear polarity markings—no guessing which black wire is which. It starts working instantly with no switches or setup. For my car project, I zip-tied it under the dash; on the motorcycle, I tucked it inside the fairing. The open-wire design is perfect for DIYers who want to customize lengths or add plugs. Performance and Effectiveness This little buck converter performs flawlessly. It consistently outputs a stable 5.01-5.03V even when input fluctuates between 11V and 28V (tested with a multimeter). I loaded it to the full 5A with a Raspberry Pi 4 plus a 2.5” SSD and touchscreen—no heat issues or voltage drop after hours of use. At lighter loads (LED strips ~1A), it stays completely cool. Waterproofing held up perfectly: I sprayed it directly with a hose and rode the motorcycle in heavy rain—no failures. Efficiency seems high; my car battery drain was minimal. It powered everything I threw at it: dash cam, phone chargers, Arduino projects, and even a small cooling fan without any whining noise or interference on my car radio. Pros • Truly Waterproof: Fully potted design survived direct water spray and rainy rides. • Stable Output: Rock-solid 5V at up to 5A, handles voltage swings perfectly. • Compact & Mountable: Easy to hide and secure in tight spaces. • Long Wires: Pre-stripped and labeled—great for DIY without extra work. • Versatile: Works with 12V car/motorcycle or 24V truck/golf cart systems. • Excellent Value: Does the job of more expensive name-brand converters. Cons • No On/Off Switch: You have to disconnect wires or add your own switch for convenience. • Wires Could Be Thicker: 20 AWG is fine for 5A, but heavy users might want to extend with thicker gauge. • Basic Packaging: No included connectors or heat shrink (though most DIYers have these anyway). ... show more

  • Awesome tool for someone who has a 12V system and needs to run USB devices!
Style: 1-Pack
This voltage converter is the gateway to an entire maker universe! Basically everything that’s USB powered can be powered from a 12 V source once you have one of these babies. I have a solar system in my shed that powers lights inside my shed as well as outside my shed. I use this to power a USB hub that then connects to a lot of USB powered lighting options… Because they are so much more efficient than 12V lighting sources, I can stretch a lot more duration from my 12V supply. Not only that, I can use it to power a Raspberry Pi, which I have written software for that will allow me to control the lighting in my shed remotely. They can also be used to power cameras like Ring cameras from a 12V system. Once you have a stable 5V source like this, basically the limit is your imagination! I have used these in the past because they are waterproof and produce 5 Amps, which is more than enough for a lot of lighting that only consumes a 10th of an amp or so. The quality is outstanding and they never seem to fail! They come with easy to use pigtails that allow you to easily wire them to anything that you want. These are a really great value at this price and an awesome way to utilize USB devices in a 12V or a 24V system. ... show more

  • Expected build quality with consistent conversion across voltage range.
Style: 1-Pack
I tested this converter at various voltages between 8-30 volts with a variable power supply. I didn’t test it under load, but it read about 5.28v with an 8.4v input, the output voltage increasing only slightly up to 30v input, see photos. This is perfectly acceptable for my uses, and 5 amps is plenty to power microcontrollers/sensors with my lithium solar battery setup. Its enclosure is plastic, which seems thick enough to withstand some damage, water or otherwise, as advertised. The wires come out of some sort of rubbery sealant on the bottom. They seem well protected by this, though this also means you can’t really access the internals if you needed to. There are no instructions included, besides an appreciated warning about incorrect polarity, but the wires are labeled extremely clearly. The lack of reverse polarity protection is not much of an issue if you’re careful and not reinstalling it constantly. Since my use for it will be on a permanent, rarely disturbed battery, I’m fine with this, especially if the claims about increased efficiency without this extra complexity are true. This is overall exactly what I expected at this price. I will have to evaluate how it stands up over time, if it causes any unexpected interference with any sensors I’m powering with it, and how efficient it truly is. ... show more

  • robust converter with a wide input voltage range
Style: 1-Pack
This is a well-made waterproof 12V/24V to 5V (5A) step-down converter that’s ideal for adapting low-voltage electricals for vehicle use. The converter module is well protected and fully sealed to keep out water and dust. It also includes generously sized mounting tabs, making secure installation on a vehicle or piece of equipment straightforward. The wiring is of ample gauge for the rated 25W output and is well insulated, giving confidence that it’s suitable for sustained real-world use. Everything felt ready to install without needing upgrades or rework for my project. I tested the converter for about an hour, powering it from an 18-volt source with a 3-amp draw. It stayed cool throughout the test and maintained a steady, consistent output voltage, which supports the claimed 90% efficiency. Overall, this is a handy and robust converter with a wide input voltage range, making it a versatile solution for automotive and other low-voltage applications. ... show more
