  • Classy
Ordered and assembled this arbor/trellis. I love the curve of the arch and the sturdiness of the item. It is sitting in gravel at my garden's edge for now. No need to push the legs/stakes into the ground as it is heavy enough (not too heavy) to withstand normal wind and weather. I added this to finalize my garden memorializing my mother. It's really beautiful and simple. So happy with it! My 11-year-old daughter helped me assemble in about 20 minutes. It's a good width for two people to stand under for photos! ... show more

  • Great for our wedding supplies!
I bought this because the one we borrowed for our daughter's wedding was so flimsy we had to hold it up with wire. Now that we're preparing for my son's wedding, I knew I didn't want to borrow the same one. This one is very sturdy, and it's deep enough that I won't worry about the flowers pulling it over. I hope to use it for all of my children's weddings. It is the hollow metal with powder coating. That means that it could get scratched and the metal could bend over time, but if it were solid, it would be a lot heavier and harder to transport, so that's not all bad... There was one spot where the metal by the screw hole was sticking out and we had to file it down to get the screw in, but we took care of it and it fits well now. ... show more

  • Beautiful
Ok, I love finished arbor and would totally order it again. However, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because several of the bolt holes were crushed or seated crooked inside the places they need to connect. So in 2 cases the bolts wouldn't go all the way in, and in a few more, it took some serious fiddling and wiggling to try and get them to connect together properly. The good news is, we did make it happen, and it took my husband and I a little over an hour. It would have been less without the bolt hole issues. We thought the pictured instructions were pretty straightforward. One exception- the little scroll pieces are supposed to be toward the outside of the arbor, which we didn't realize from the instructions was a thing. It's only a slight difference, but it is clearly supposed to all be the same way, not a half inch to the inside of the arbor. We figured it out halfway through and because it's a subtle thing, we did not dissemble everything we'd done to correct it on the 2 pieces of the top arch where it's wrong. We figured with vines on it, no one will notice. But if you look for placing the scrolls on the outside from the beginning when you assemble it, you should be good. ... show more

  • Looks Delightful!
The design on this arbor is beautiful. It will support by climbing roses and clematis in style. The only thing I was disappointed with was the way it went into the ground. I needed much more substantial support on the ground than was given. My husband put some long fiberglass poles to which he attached some zip ties to keep it in place with the wind and snow. ... show more

  • Easy to build
I had a couple of the welded nuts break loose as I was putting it together but overall I am very pleased with the arbors look, and stability. I planted Clematis on it and it’s climbing perfectly. Could be better made but for the price I love it!

  • We had issues!
We bought this arch in black from Plow & Hearth 7 years ago. My 3 year old grandson helped me assemble it, and it is still standing in our backyard quite nicely. When our front arch of another type fell apart, we thought it would be great and worth the $ to buy the same arch. Assembly was much more problematic. With the cross bars, especially. The way the nut is just stuck in the ends, they easily break off. I don't think they are even soldered in place. When you tighten the screw, the bar either pops out from the bolt or it comes apart after it is assembled. I finally got the top and sides assembled and ready to put together when I found that the side piece was soldered together at an angle, not square, so it couldn't be fit to the piece above it. After some to-do back and forth with Plow & Hearth (called them first), then Amazon, then back to Plow & Hearth -- they sent me a whole new arch. I only needed one part, but that is how it was done. I was actually happy to have a few extra cross bars, since some had become separated. We put the arch together finally, and have installed it in our front side yard. I love the look, but this was a real hassle. A couple of the cross bars at the top I didn't bother to re-install, given the problem with them falling apart. It is pretty sturdy, so I'll keep it that way. Sure hope it lasts as long as our older one. ... show more

  • Okay BUT terrible support
Value for money is all right. However, good luck if something breaks ONLY because of poor welding )in China) after you put it up and then dispose of the box. The braces, part D, have nuts welded just inside the edge to hold the thru-frame screws. Two rusted out welds gave out 2 days after assembly. Called Plow & Hearth. The representative was first cold and uncaring, then sounded like a recording of we don't care. Said if I didn't buy from them go back to Amazon. Also said even if I did buy it, they don't have parts for sale, replacement, etc. And yeah, what do they care? Plow & Hearth made their money; I am a one-off and they couldn't care less about their reputation based on poor manufacturing process. Too bad. The arbor is great and price was fair. ... show more

  • At last!
I have always wanted one of these, but never had the yard for it. We have moved into a brand new house with nothing but grass. I get to design my garden around the arch! I gave it only 3 stars for assembly because the drawing were small and could have had more written descriptions. The sturdiness rating is because I would have preferred longer points that sink in the ground. Because of our soil, we're going to need rods attached to the legs and/or concrete. ... show more
