Updated December 10th complete review. I bought a PS3 when they first released. At the time I still had tons of PS2 games I played so to get a next gen system with full hardware backward capability was amazing. Explained why it cost so much, trying to fit 2 systems into 1. Over the next 7 years Sony has continued to update the system, shrink it in scale, in some capability's. But over-all the system has remained the same and continued to improve in some ways. Now fast forward to today. Sony has refined that artistic console and streamlined it down to a very nice low profile console. My opinion on the bundle is that you can not get a better deal then this right now. $199 for 250GB PS3 system, 2 AAA Title games that are game of the year candidates. A system that streams media, plays blu-ray, blu-ray 3D, external media hookup capable, and surf the web. And it does all the online features with out the needs of a subscription service like Xbox 360/Xbox 1 require with LIVE. PSN is free, you only pay for Plus to get multi-player online support going forward, and that seems reasonable when consider server cost support for the network reliablity for that gaming capability. You get alot for you money on this deal, as other have mentioned the only negative I can speak to is the lack of physical plastic jewel cases for the games would have been nice over the carboard sleaves. Not worth a star reduction, but it was disappoint to see that. It was such a good deal I bought 2. 1 From Amazon on Black Friday with Prime free 2 day shipping. And another 2 weeks later from my local Navy Exchange to replace my legacy first gen PS3 Fat 60GB in the living room. For 7 years of wear and tear its finally breaking down. So an upgrade was in order. When I bought the second one, it was still 199 in store, and the clerk told me it was a permanent price point change by Sony to 199 for the core system bundles. So any one looking for this system should check places like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and so on. Maybe you can still find it at that price point. In the bundle: - Core PS3 Super Slim system - Standard AV cable - 1 PS3 Dualshock 3 Controller - Power cord - 2 Games (Batman:AO and Last of Us w/ DLC Codes for PSN redemtion online) - Manuals Review of the Super Slim console itself: The console it self is smaller, lighter. It doesnt look or feel cheap to me personally, The Blu-Ray drive tray gives me some concern, but so did the front loading drive that came in the first PS3 and the PS3 Slim. They didn seem to have to many issues. So I am not expecting to many here. Be gentle with the door and I imagine there wont be any problems. I never owned a Slim so I cant compare the second version of the PS3 to the two that I own. Heat... Heat was a major source issue with many when the first PS3 and Xbox 360 came out. They were loud and could heat a room up quick. 7 years later both final iterations of the console produce next to no heat footprint and are very quiet. I have become accustomed to the sound of my legacy PS3 Fat. But when I did my data transfer I noticed just how much of a difference there is in the two systems. With my PS3 Fat I had to open the window next to the audio cabinet to let cool air in for winter gaming months so it wouldnt get to warm in the room, and it sounds like a jet engine when it gets hot. After the first 60 hours of game play I can say I am happy with the PS3 Super Slim. Last night my wife and I gamed on Rainbow Six Vegas 2 hunting terrorists. There were no hanging sounds, lag's or delays. Other then the green light on the front we couldnt even tell the system was on audibly. At the end of the night I got up to put my controller back on the charger, put my hand on the console. Warm to the touch at best. I cant say the same for my first generation PS3. It would heat up my entire shelf and cabinet walls in a 6 or 7 hour gaming session. If you are holding off, now is a good time to pick a PS3. Reasons to still buy a PS3 if you didnt in the last 7 years. There are tons of games in it's library. Definitely a great deal at $199 for 250 gb with two of this seasons hottest games, one that I really wanted and another my son, the Batman fan, had at the top of his wishlist. What I love about this new slim version is the storage, all the bugs are worked out, it's a great price, and it comes with two hot games for a great price, However, unlike previous versions, it does not allow for up to four controllers, although many games are compatible for up to four players (granted not as many as other systems, but still). There are only two controller ports. This is disappointing. Also, I prefer the eject loading of earlier models vs. the top load, especially since I have to either pull the system out to chance discs each time or reach into the shelf to do so. That in itself isn't so much my biggest problem as is my worry of dust, defect, etc., with the insides exposed everytime not only I load but my kids load a disc, and they're the main ones playing games and swapping movies out. I had a rule that only I would change them at first, but it lasted all of three days, it's just unreasonable. And of course, as most models since the first or second ps3's came out, not backwards compatible, but that's to be expected at this point. Still, a great deal, and the games are great. If you can find the price comparable with more controller ports and a front loader though, I'd recommend that, unless you don't take issue with it. I find the top loader buggy myself, though. It's only been less than two months and I find my movies already skip a lot.

This is a great deal. I ordered this on Thursday November 28 and got it Tuesday December 3 with free shipping! This comes with a 250 gb PS3, The Last of Us and Batman Arkham Origins. The console itself is very nice if you don't have a PS3 like me or if you need a new one. The only bad thing is that the PS4 came out recently, but this is a safe bet because you can still get thousands of PS3 games that are new and they will continue making PS3 games for several years. You can get way more PS3 games than PS4 as of right now and this is still available for $200 on Gamestop.com and BestBuy.com. The Last of Us is a third-person Survival-Action game that utilizes choices in gameplay action to develop the game storyline, as well as the relationship between the two main characters, Joel and Ellie. The game features a combination of combat, exploration, stealth and platforming game mechanics. Although Joel and Ellie are both residents of a post-apocalyptic world, they have had different experiences that affect the way they see the world around them, and feel about what they see and do. Joel had a life before the pandemic, while the world of the pandemic is all that Ellie has ever known. As part of Joel's job to smuggle Ellie out of the quarantine zone, players have to make choices in how they deal with enemies, which include, roving gangs of human scavengers not unlike themselves, military elements and infected civilians. Player also have opportunity to together interact with elements of the world around them, which helps to build the bond between Joel and Ellie. Resources in the game are scarce, making overwhelming use of firepower unlikely and unwise in conflicts, and resource gathering missions. In addition, most other residents of the ruined world that are encountered are just trying to survive - blurring the line between good guys and bad guys. Finally, game AI react differently depending on the specifics of the player's actions, making choice in gameplay a major consideration. This game is PS3 exclusive and costs around $60 in stores. Batman Arkham origins isn't PS3 exclusive, but you do get a PS3 exclusive DLC and this game also costs around $60 in store. Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise; Taking place before the rise of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight; As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships. If you were to buy the 250 gb Xbox alone it would be about $250 and the two games would cost over $120 so this is worth around $370 but it only costs $200. If you want these agmes and a new PS3 this is easily the best deal you will find. I would buy it from anywhere around $200-$275!

I purchased the PS3 Black Friday bundle, and this is my first experience with the PlayStation 3 (although I did own a PS2). The console was easy to setup right out of the box, and everything seems high quality and durable. For those who aren't game-saavy, this console is very easy and fun to use; it would make a nice gift for the casual gamer. The bundle features two best-selling and critically acclaimed games: "The Last of Us" and "Batman: Arkham Origins". Both are included in disc format (although they don't come in the typical plastic cases, but rather in cardboard sleeves). These games are great to get you started, but there are a number of others games that you'll want to look into. Sony has quite a few good PS3 exclusive games - I'd recommend checking out "Gran Turismo 5", "God of War: Ascension", and "Journey". A DualShock Wireless Remote is included - the remote's wireless signal reaches well over 20 feet. The only thing to note is that you will need to connect it to the console via a USB cable in order to charge it from time to time (but it sure beats going through AA batteries like the XBOX controllers). Additional remotes typically cost $30-50. This PS3 bundle also includes all required cables to get the unit working right out of the box - this includes a power cord and composite A/V cables. Unfortunately, an HDMI cable is NOT included, so you'll want to buy one if you wish to play/watch content in HD. One common question is this: Will PS2 games will work on the PS3? The answer is NO - this console will not play your prior generation PlayStation game discs. Fortunately, many of the classic games from PS2 can be purchased for the PS3, some in disc format and others as digital downloads on the PlayStation Network. Another frequent question is: Can I watch movies on the PS3? The answer is YES. You can connect wirelessly to many of your video streaming sites, such as Netflix. The console also plays DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. It can handle 3D blu-rays as well (provided you have the necessary setup, which includes a 3D TV). As a bonus, buyers get one free month of membership in PlayStation Plus. The PS+ membership gives you access to an instant collection of digital games, member-only discounts, and 3 GB of online save game space.

My old ps3 60 gig decided to clunk out on me and ylod so when this deal came up I found it to hard to pass up. The last of us is a pretty awesome game so far and I've really been enjoying it, hopefully Batman is just as good. Anyways on to the system itself. This super slim system just feels way cheaper then the old fat systems as well as the old slim systems. Which it's not a big deal. Although, their new DVD reader seems to make a ton of noise. Which is to bad since when it's not reading off a DVD you can barely hear it at all. So for those two things I'd probably just knock a star off. The reason I'm giving it such a low review is the fact the controller I got with the system was broken on arrival. So I called Sony's support to see about getting it replaced under warranty and they wanted me to pay shipping both ways. Which, if I was the one who broke it I'd be ok with but since it was broke out of the box is pretty stupid. Luckily Amazon really came through and made everything right, which is lucky for Sony since I would have just returned it for a refund. So, A+ for Amazon but Sony really left a bad taste in my mouth.

System is good and my son likes the games as well. PS3 controller that came along worked initially, but would never charge. I called PS3 Support and they identified it as dead battery. Sony offered free replacement but I was asked to pay for the shipping. They do not have any support centers or locations where I can drop my bad controller and get a new one. I called Amazon and they replaced the controller. It works good now. Overall happy with PS3 but giving 3 stars due to bad controller and Sony will not replace the defective product including shipping charges.

Overall this is a good bundle and I am happy with my purchase. The PS3 normally sells for $299 so if you can get it for $199-$249 or with a gift card then you will be getting a great deal. This bundle includes two games. The Last of Us is one of the greatest games of this entire generation- if not of all time. Batman: Arkham Origins is a step down from the two previous games but still a good title in my opinion. Just be aware that these games are not rated for kids so keep this in mind if you are shopping for a younger child. The PS3 itself is a good system with a vast library of games to play. The only thing that bothers me is that this particular version has the lowest build quality of all the PS3 models. It feels cheaper, especially around the door which opens when you want to put a game disc in the system. This version of the PS3 is also a bit noisy. It is nothing too distracting but it is a little disappointing after the excellent build quality of the previous two versions. That said, this is the only model of the PS3 that is currently being produced so if you want a new PS3 then it is a moot point. At this stage of the system's life span you're best bet is to buy a bundle like this, get a very good sale price or preferably both. Just be aware that the PS4 is available now and support for the PS3 will begin to decline. I would say that anybody who wants a new PS3 now should consider this bundle as I believe it is the best value out there.

UPDATE 02/02/2013 I had to cancel my refund process with Amazon since I would not be able to ship the package back to them on time, I bought this PS3 as a gift for a family member outside the US and thought I would rather fix it on an authorized Sony Center despite it might be a lot more expensive than what I originally paid for it, I sent it last week and today they game me the official report saying the mainboard is damaged and it's not possible to fix it since SONY does not sell this piece for repairs. So, in conclusion, I'm left with a damaged PS3 that is not refundable nor repairable, if I was ever on the fence about consoles before, today I'm on the opposite side, screw them, I'm gonna sell the games and controller to recover some of the money I lost and don't look back. /// My original review: After years of being on the fence with "last gent" consoles (I've only had a Wii for family games like Mario Kart) I finally decided to jump ships to Sony because of the PS3 Black Friday bundle, I went on and bought it straight from Amazon, received it on time but couldn't sit down to play it until January, holiday's time was scarce, however when I opened it I noticed the disc drive was opened, i started playing with the Open button and you can easily notice that the button is not well placed as it sticks out a little bit from the side and any minor "push" can open the disc drive. Anyway I turned the console on, it worked, I updated to the latest firmware and placed The Last of Us disc inside (both games come in cardboard slivers not plastic cases FYI), the disc icon started to spin on screen and after it stopped I was waiting for something to happen... nothing, that's weird I thought, maybe it's the game, I inserted Batman Arkham Asylum Origins and same thing, I put in a bunch of DVD movies I own, the same. I thought the upgrade may have caused this so I went into Safe Mode (which is totally legal and supported by Sony) and formatted the drive, formatted the console... pretty much every option available in the menu, but same thing happened over and over. I'm so dissapointed I received a lemon because I sold my Wii to get this, the Wii worked great for 4 years, no problems, I'm in the process of returning it to Amazon so maybe I'll change my rating afterwards, however since the bundle is sold through Amazon no more, I cannot ask for a replacement, I'm thinking I might as well use my refund to buy a laptop and replace my desktop's graphic card, sure it will cost more but those are powerful electronics I can get more use of and I'll be done with consoles for now.
