Picked this up for my niece, who loved it immediately. But not nearly as much as my sister and cousin, who spent countless hours playing with this as kids. This is perfect if you have someone that loves Barbie and all those typical "girly" dress-up toys and things, but you really don't want to keep filling the house with all that stuff. This lets them pick out the styles and outfits they want and color them however they want. They get to be their own little fashion designer. Seems to be strong plastic, is easy to use (no supervision), has it's own travel case, and is perfect for anyone young who can draw and color well right up through adults. This took me back to my own childhood. My friends and I would be on our knees between the benches in church playing with Fashion Plates. This is a great kit that includes everything your little girl needs to put her creativity to work designing all sorts of outfits. My 11 year old daughter loves it! The carrying case makes it so convenient to take on the go. This is an awesome activity for the times you need your children still and quiet. I use it at Dr. Appointments (I homeschool my kids so sometimes there is just no way to get to an appointment without them), Church, and in the Car (we have an hour commute to town so we have a lot of car time). It has a little learning curve, you have to press pretty hard on the crayon to get a good outline of the outfits, and you can't let the paper move while you are doing it. It took a few tries for my girl to get it right. I remember using this when I was maybe 5 or 6, so it does have a wide user range. I wish I would have found this sooner for my daughter. ... show more

This was great for my daughter who loves barbies, princesses, fashion, and simple crafts. I had the original version 40 years ago and this one is fairly comparable. Obviously it is flimsier and lighter-weight than the older styles as all toys these days are, but it’s functional and it seems the images appear with a bit more ease than the older version. It does leave streaks and smudges on the paper, but my daughter doesn’t care. The main reason I’m reviewing is because SO many people mentioned that the carrying case doesn’t hold the set securely. That simply isn’t true in my experience. The box clearly shows how to pack it all in the case properly, and when I did that, no problems at all! As you can see in the pics I included, it all fits and when suspending it in mid-air, everything stays securely. Would definitely purchase again! ... show more

I bought this for indoor recess for my students. I remembered loving this as a kid, and thought they might, too. Boy, did they! My students LOVE using fashion plates to make creations! I wish I had more frames so they could each have one. They share the plates, and compliment each other's creations. It really is wonderful for students to be creative and work together.
