Playground is a gritty, real look at life at school, from the perspective of seven year old Nora ( who forms a small group of friends), and her older brother who is mercilessly bullied. It almost felt like a documentary, it was so well acted by the child actors. Recommended.

It has a good story line but the production was not so great. The ending leaves you kind of like….ok where is the rest of the movie? Did they not have enough money to finish the movie????

    • A Grim View of Childhood
This is not a cute movie about cute kids having cute adventures at school. It is a very grim picture of the cruelty of children toward each other, a cruelty that adults never recognize, because they live in the adult world. In fact, the original title of this is "Un Monde"---a world, not the ironically innocent "Playground." 7-year old Nora is introduced to bullying, betrayal, derision and, yes, cruelty---you know, the usual. The film is technically a marvel---told in closeups filmed at the level of the kids. The acting is superb. It does have the now obligatory ambiguous and sudden ending---too damn sudden, in my view---promising some level of reconciliation between Nora and her older brother. It needed a long overhead shot of them consoling and holding each other, surrounded by the terrible madness of the other kids. Didn't happen. Still, a good film. Just don't expect anything comfy. ... show more

This is the children’s world that adults may don’t see at school. It is a perfect movie to show the different kind of bullying happening in schools, specially the difference of bullying between boys and girls. Highly recommended to students in Education programs in Universities.
