I bought two of these boxes -- I needed a couple tool boxes and these fit my budget. They are sturdy and the right size for hammers, pipe cutters, long screwdrivers, etc. I'm not crazy about the way the outer, top section fastens, but it's, probably, just a matter of getting used to it. That section is great for holding nails, screws, etc. I always find the inside top trays, in boxes of this type, a nuisance, because anything I use is (usually) in the larger/base compartment. So, I've removed the inner trays and will try them out as desk drawer organizers, or the like, at some point. I bought two because tools never seem to be in the right place, at the right time, when I need them. So, each is stocked with basic tools and in a convenient location.     • Medium quality - latches don’t ‘snap’ as well as I’d like

Decent quality, likely good value for the price. It’s on the lighter weight side, which is fine. What turned me off though is that the latches don’t ‘snap’ well. They’re secure enough I guess, but feel like I need to double or triple check that they’ve latched.

I use this for pottery tools I cart back and forth to my local studio. It holds paint brushes, some paints, and lots of carving tools just great. I love the removable little caddy, really helps me stay organized and I can keep cleaner things at the bottom while I get clay all over the top. Careful to open it on a surface where the lid can rest once opened, otherwise it's a bit top heavy and will fall right over. This 13 in. Plano, model 113/114 Compact Tool Box with Tray is absolutely junk and borderline fragile. The negative reviews are spot on. * Rear hinge pops off making it difficult to close. You have to manually push the hinge back in. * Clear plastic lid latch pops off on one side. * Black Latch will pop off. * The inside tray depletes about an inch of space in the lower main box. * You can’t load anything above the height of the inside tray or the lid will not close. Plano makes some decent items but this one should never have been made. ... show more
