Compared to buying this material (Foamular, or extruded polystyrene) at Home Depot or a similar store this is of course crazy expensive. But there you'll only get it in huge sheets and it'll be much thicker. The thickness of these sheets (14.5mm) makes them much easier to work with for model building. So only buy this if (i) you need thin sheets, (ii) you don't have store space at home for large sheets and/or (iii) you don't have an easy way of transporting a huge sheet home from Home Depot. The material itself arrived in good condition. Nice straight pieces. At first I was worried that it had been plasticized which would have made it impossible to carve or paint, but that was just a protective layer that easily peels off.

it's expensive. It's much cheaper to buy it from home depot in a 24" x 24" piece which costs $5 to $6. I didn't take any stars off for the price because it was my decision to pay the price, so I can't fault them for my choices. By the way, the piece I mentioned at home depot, it is 1' thick. So it's double the thickness for half the price. If you do not have a store near you that carries these boards, then feel good knowing these are just fine.

The first time I ordered one of the sides was all messed up. But still could work with that. The second time I ordered they were 1/2” short. And I needed to make 3” squares. Had to cut all sheets to get the right amount of squares that I needed. Bummer.

The description and photos indicate that this is the right product for carving for crafts and dioramas. I purchased it only because no stores in my greater metropolitan area carry foam boards in 1/2" thickness. Considering how dinged up, dented, and creased the four boards I received were, I thought it would be reasonably easy to cut and carve. It is not. Cutting with very sharp utility knife and Xacto knife blades just leaves feathered edges. Cutting with a razor saw is better, but only works for straight lines, not curves. Both sides have what looks like a heat polished surface, which is shiny and resistant to carving or molding. Pressing a texture into either the shiny side or a cut side is useless - the foam just springs back. What a waste of money and time trying to further my project. These are useless unless I find something really small to insulate.

I use this for making terrain for table top games. Works great for that but the price is a little high. Depending on your region you can find this at most hardware stores for a fourth of the price. I just do not have it in the right thickness in my area so I purchase here. If you are in the same situation though this is the best source I have found for it.

Used it for a paludarium. It did exactly what I wanted with no issues. I should have gotten 2 or 3 because I overestimated how big it would be but that was my own fault. Definitely measure the space you're trying to cover just to make sure you have enough.
