These are great tongs. I like that the handle is rounded so it dosent dig into my hand but they need to be oiled often to keep the rust off. The square jaws broke after 10 days of use the other tongs are going strong though the square jaws quickly became my favorite. These tongs are in fact tongs. They will definitely get you started in your blacksmithing journey. Just use them to make your own tongs because they will not stand the test of time. Oh, and the first project you will have to do is learn how to rivet and replace the rivet on all of these tongs as they don't last very long and loosen up quickly. ... show more

V-bit tongs are not sized as advertised (supposedly for 5/8ths square stock). Even if you use larger stock that fits, or adjust the tongs to size, the combination of relatively shallow v-grooves in the jaws, and the fact that the jaws are more springy than rigid means that it's nearly impossible to hold any square stock in them while striking it. No matter how tightly you squeeze, the corners jump out of the grooves if you strike with any force. The jaws of the wolf-jaw tongs spread after minimal use, meaning you have an ever-worsening grip on your work piece. Have not yet tried the flat tongs.
