I purchased the lighter weight option for control and better ball placement. So far I have only used the paddle for three outings. I find it very comfortable in my hand and it has not let me down.

The only negative is the grip is a little thicker than I like. This paddle is great for dink play. Just not a fan of the grip.

The one I tested weighed in at 8.2 ounces. This paddle is on the USAPA Approved Paddle list - List Date of 4/15/2023. It is not listed under Viva Pro, but under VIVA 16MM. Hudef has gotten a lot of paddles approved, so they're very active in this space - that's good! Btw, you always want to validate the claims of the MFR/Seller as it relates to being approved or not. I've done this for you on this product. Reason is that if you ever want to grow your game and get into a sanctioned tournament, you'll need this approval in order to be allowed to use this paddle in competition. Comes with a very solid case to help protect the paddle. Very thick case. With 2 zipper design for either end - just a quality case - rarely found with paddle purchases today. Ok, on to the paddle itself. 5.5" grip length. What does this mean? Means that if you have a 2 handed back hand, you have some room to fit it there. As well, with the neck's design gives a bit more room. Also, it's 4 and 1/8" in circumference. Most of the time it's 4.25. so this grip is a bit smaller, this is not a bad thing. Means it will fit female hands every better and if you have a larger hand, just put another grip (over grip) on it. It's got a rectangular feel with a bit wider (front to back) feel. The make up of the grip was very soft but does grab really well. Always felt in control even if my hands would get a bit sweaty. Raw Carbon fiber face that has a nice level of grit. This means you're going to be able to spin the ball, if you need. Otherwise, you'll get a decent pop off the face when striking the ball to volleying. Thus, the power factor. I liked the extra weight of this paddle. To me, heavier means more power and stability which fits my tennis origin'd game. Disclosure, I've started out with Selkirk's Invikta Power Air, migrated to Gearbox Pro Elongated - so I've used some very high dollar paddles in my growth in this game. And this paddle performed very well up against those paddle which cost 2 to 3 times this one does. This is a 16mm version thus you get some decent control out of this thickness, as well. Comes with a nicely designed red edge guard which if you're into clean looks on a paddle - then this paddle is perfect for this. Mostly black face with a red edge around it.. black handle. Just clean. This is an elongated shape. This shape lends itself to tennis players (both ex and current). So this paddle rates from beginners to advanced players. Be mindful is is on the heavier side of paddles. Carbon face is going to generate spin and power, while you get some control from the thickness. And toss on top of it the cool/clean design/look. And toss in a very nice thick case to protect the paddle. Nice deal!

I can't recommend the Hudef Viva Pro Gen2 paddle enough (note, this is not a review for the Future-Gray paddle with the EVA core which is not a legal paddle for USAPA). First, the specifics. My Hudef Viva Pro weighed in at 8.15oz/231gr before edge tape or overgrip. As named, this is a gen2 paddle with a thermoformed unibody frame, foam injected edged and Raw T-700 face. The peel-ply face has very evident grit that translate to spin and control (more on that later). The grip circumference is 4.125, which is my personal preference of size as it allows adding tape/weight on the handle area, lowering swing weight while overall weight increases. I also have smaller sized hands and were a medium golf glove as a reference. The overall play of this paddle is excellent. Great balance of pop, power and control. Spin is easy and serves well to pinpoint placement and control. Touch and feel are good and this performs on par with other Gen2 thermoformed paddles, which is challenging for novice players to find touch with the smaller sweet spot and power provided by this paddle. To that point, this is targeting the intermediate/advanced player. I will note that this is on the premium price side when compared to the sea of knock-off Gen2 paddles on the market today, but still a bargain for the performance and construction when compared to top brands in this space. It has increased since I received mine and is currently priced at $149.99, up from the $129.99 price in December. As for QC/Customer Service. When I received this paddle, I noticed a significant difference in texture between each side of the racket. One had raw cf grit that I'm accustomed to and the other was extremely smooth. I played and frankly, it became a head-game of thinking during points which racket side I was hitting between forehand/backhand shots. Not sure if this was intended, so I contacted them and within minutes received a response seeking more info and pictures. After a brief exchange, they assured me this was a defective paddle and immediately replaced it with one without flaw. I was very pleased with the service and response of Hudef.
