When you start playing pickleball, you don't have any idea of what serious paddle you are going to want, so the best thing to do is start with a set of these inexpensive wooden paddles to get you in the game. You won't find anything else for the price. I at first thought $9.99 was a misprint. And they are also decent paddles. When I first started playing, snobbish friends made me feel it was beneath me to use a wooden paddle, but as I progressed, I realized that until you reach a certain level, it's the player more than the paddle that determines your game. I have since acquired a higher quality paddle and there are plenty of good paddles on Amazon for you to consider acquiring later. By then you will know what kind of paddle you need and you will have gotten more than your money's worth out of these paddles. The paddles are a little heavier than most paddles I've played with, but, after you get used to it, you may find that it allows you to impart more power to the ball. Don't hesitate. There were several new pickle ball courts that opened near us and we wanted to try this out. Note this is specifically a review of this as a beginner set.
