For the most part, this is a very nice notebook for the price. Well-bound with lay-flat pages, a ribbon to hold your place and a band to keep the notebook closed when you're not using it (or you can also use it to hold your place and ensure the book opens up to the right page). The cover is a decent synthetic material and is reasonably sturdy. Note that it's a hard cover, and a pretty big notebook (about A5). So while they call this a "pocket" notebook, there's no way you're going to get this in your pocket. The only negative I found in the notebook is that the printing of the lines is a tiny bit skewed, and the lines start closer to the top than the bottom (the opposite of most lined paper, and it doesn't leave room for page headers). For most people this probably won't be a big deal. For somebody like me who is a bit on the OCD side, it's a tad bothersome.

I like this little book but the binder seem a little cheaply made but honestly I’m using this for notes and it’s a darn notebook. It serves its purpose!

I'm a bit addicted to keeping a diary, so have been looking for yet another volume to add to my collection. This is a pretty standard college-ruled notebook with a sturdy cover. Too sturdy, maybe, as I do have to put in some effort to open it flat onto the spread. I don't really mind this as I would rather have my notebooks stay on the side of solid that won't fray open, but this rigidity makes it especially unfriendly for sketching. It is very plain. There is no usual place at the front to write your name and the paper doesn't have any kind of overly-pleasant texture to write home about. That's not a good or bad thing, but I would consider this to be very utilitarian rather than any kind of giftable novelty.

I use journals like this for a number of functions, many of which are in the office for keeping track of technical details but I also use them as journals for personal writing. This is a fairly priced journal and so far I am mostly happy with it. There are a couple of areas where it could be improved, but it gets the important things right. Many of the journals I have seen and used like this have 60-100 sheets inside - small and compact, but need to be replaced more often. This one has 180 sheets which is a nice amount - still small and compact but with more surface area for writing. The pages are off-white which is easier on my eyes, and so far I have not had trouble with bleed-through with my fountain pens. I like the cover which is a faux leather that has a very nice feel to it. It's sufficient to protect the pages and it is somewhat resistant to scuffs and scratches. I also like the elastic closure and the ribbon marker, though those are fairly standard features on a lot of journals and notebooks. I would make two changes to this notebook that would make it even better, though these probably would increase the cost a little. First, it doesn't lay flat when open which is unfortunate but is livable. It would be nice if it was made to lay flat. Second, a pocket inside the cover would be very convenient. Overall, this is a nice notebook and I am pleased with it. It has a generous number of pages and seems to be made well.

This is a good quality, basic journal. I really like that there are no other markings on the page--just standard rules. There is a double black elastic closure and a single dark brown ribbon marker. The paper is somewhat transparent--not the thickest and there might be some bleed through with dark ink. No pockets other features on the inside cover.

This journal is perfect for my intended purpose: keeping a record of phone call information. It’s a convenient size; it has a bookmark ribbon that enables me to go directly to my last-call page; the pages are nicely bound like the pages in a reading book, so that the journal opens relatively flat like a reading book — very helpful for taking notes; the pages are not flimsy. Note that the number of PAGES specified on the Amazon site refers to the number of SIDES that you can write on — which is twice the number of sheets of paper. Even the product heading on the Amazon says Notebook 180 SHEETS 360 PAGES. If you buy a book to read, and Amazon says that it’s 360 pages long you can be sure that those 360 pages consist of 180 sheets of paper. I say this, because one reviewer claimed that he/she felt cheated by not getting 360 SHEETS. The manufacturer claims 100 GSM paper weight. Per my micrometer measurements of paper thickness, the paper weight is closer to 80 GSM — approximately like ordinary copy paper. That’s fine with me, although I’d have preferred a more accurate statement of paper weight.

This is a terrific journal, planning book, writer’s notebook, etc. The paper stands up to fine tip roller ball (ie pilot precise) as well as standard and gel inks. Each page is crisp and renders a clean image/written word. The bonding feels secure and the pages lie well, which is key to longevity for well-loved notebooks like I expect this one to be!! Satisfyingly, it coordinates with my other office supplies and binders and notebooks and is a pleasure to use!
