  • Best choice for replacing have century old shower handles
If you are looking at these then you might be in the same spot as me. I just had my shower re-tiled and thought all I would have to do is go down to my local hardware store and buy new handles.....and I was WRONG. I was able to find out the handles that I had where Pfister style handles and from what I was told I can only replace with Pfister hardware again. I contacted Pfister and narrowed down my choice to this model...not much to choose from but hey better than the 30 year old handles that were currently on it. First of all let me say that the Amazon Prime shipping is AMAZING. Ordered it on Saturday and on my front porch by MONDAY AFTERNOON! The kit is pretty strait forward but you WILL need a specialty tool in order to get out the seats that are in the valve, you can buy this from home depot (Amazon I would suggest making this a suggestion as additional things to buy), Getting the seats out is really easy and I have read that if you do not get them out it could leak. No since in taking a chance. I would also get some pipe dope or Teflon tape when installing the valve. One trick that you can do is switch around the valve sleeve to get a closer or father away from the wall to make it look nice. On my shower I was able to do the smaller side but my tub required it to be flipped around for the longer stem cover. I personally used a dab of silicon around the round flange that fits on the wall. pretty easy install and it looks good. Just one thing and it has been mentioned on here. If you are using the longer side of the sleeve it does stick out from the wall a little bit farther but not too bad....BUT there is no other choice that I was able to find. Good luck and happy modding :) ... show more

  • Great PF rebuild Kit.
i own a home build in 1955. PF valve assemblies were used in both bathrooms. We read the instructions, looked at the diagrams, turned off the water supply and proceeded to remove the old leaking PF knobs, valve assemblies, and seats. At first I thought that the new valves would never fit in the old seat assembly in the wall. I was prepared to tear apart the wall to remove and replace the seat assembly but The install instructions were an excellent source of information. Removing the valve seats required a 5/16 square billet. not easy to find at most hardware stores. However a little ingenuity I fabricated ground down a 5/16 billet from1/2 inch billet to make the tool needed to remove the valve seats. I required a pipe wrench and monkey grease to remove the hot water side. The replacement of the valve seats is critical if you expect the PF faucet not to leak. We removed the old valve seats and I glad i did because they were damaged. Using the billet, installing the new seats went well, with a little pipe thread seal compound on the threads. Be sure to use all of the gaskets and install them in the right sequence. . Look at the exploded diagrams to see the sequence. read the instructions as well. With a little suffering, the project was accomplished and we were able to use the 1955 base in the wall. Thanks PF, it is smart engineering, and corporate commitment to offer such a high quality kit to upgrade my bath and shower. ... show more

  • Beautiful shower handle set for old Pfister plumbing Beautiful shower handle set for old Pfister plumbing
After receiving a $500+ plumbing estimate to switch to another brand of shower handles (by replacing copper in the wall) we shopped for a Pfister solution to match our old mid-70s wall plumbing. This is a beautiful satin nickel set and was easy for my husband to install himself. With his first test the shower head dripped so he found a Youtube video with Pfister installation advice, made some adjustments, and then it worked great. NOTE: Be sure the handle valves are completely open (with water to shower turned off) before installing handles. After installing new seats and handles, close the valves (turn off) before turning water back on to test. We wanted the handles to look level in the off position, but were uncertain if the handles should turn up or down for 'on'. They ended up going down for 'on', which seems fine. We had damage to fiberglass shower from the old handles (see pictures) and found flanges to hide this (Amazon brand PZRT, 2pcs Wall Split Flange). Pleased with end result. ... show more

  • Looks nice, but check compatibility
We have an older shower with separate handles for hot and cold. During a remodel, we wanted to upgrade the handles, and since our other hardware is Pfister, these 2-handle shower lever kit pieces looked like a good match. Unfortunately, despite the Pfister name, the valve stems were not compatible with our setup, so we had to return them. Great style, but make sure to verify compatibility before buying. ... show more

  • What a difference! Look for P-P on the old body to assure compatibility
Like many, I had no idea what brand valve was in my shower. Desperately needing to refurbish everything after over 30 years of hard water and hard water stain remover and not relishing the idea of a total replacement with soldering and all, I went looking to see what would work. I saw these, and they looked similar. Then, I noticed the "P-P" on the side of one valve in the photo. I'd seen that before, on mine. And now I know it stands for "Price-Pfister." Yup. it's the right kit. The install went great. I'd removed all the old components in advance (my shower has separate shut-off valves behind the access panel, so I didn't have to turn the water off to the whole house), so I got all the new stuff installed in around an hour the day it arrived. As others have noted, they do stick out more than the old ones, but that doesn't really bother me. No more dripping. No more water coming out at the handles (due to worn out packing) and creating a hard water calcification build-up. I've read some of the negative reviews, and most come in one of three categories: 1) They tried using this with a non-Pfister system. Not Pfister's or Amazon's fault. And now you know how to tell. 2) They just plain didn't know what they were doing, which is hard since the instructions were quite clear to me. Plus, you can find YouTube videos on replacing the valves and seats that will help. Again, not Pfister's or Amazon's fault. Take a look at the YouTube videos to see if this is a project within your capabilities. Even ones for other brands that are two-handle are pretty applicable. 3) Maybe they got that rare manufacturing defect. It happens. Send it back for exchange. Ok, that is Pfister's fault. But at this price, I'd take the chance again, as the defects seem rare based on reviews here. ... show more

  • Beautiful quality design
Just what our bathroom reno needed to complete the look. I originally had purchased the handles by themselves. thinking they came with the wall plates, but they didn't. Also this particular design/ model as been discontinued by Pfister, so finding what i was looking for also took a couple of phone calls to the manufacturer to make sure i purchased the correct and complimenting pieces. so this comes with the wall plates, stem covers, the stems, the shower pipe, and the turn handles. The only thing not pictured is the stem covers, our faucet valve was closer to the edge of the wall, so when the plumber installed the fixture, we didn't get the nice flushed bell look as shown, we had to use a stem extension cover (which is included in this kit) and covers the gap between the wall plate and the faucet handle. so we don't get a flushed look, but it still looks great. You do notice the water spots, but nothing i quick kaboom wipe doesn't take care off. Heavy metal, not plastic. We completed the look with the addition of the Avalon tub spout and the Avalon sink faucet. ... show more

  • I like the quality and the appearance of these shower handles
This apparently will only work if you already have Pfister plumbing installed in the wall. I like the quality and the appearance of these shower handles. But there was no way to get them to work properly (without some leaking) because I DO NOT have Pfister plumbing in the wall behind the shower. So I returned them to Amazon and went to the hardware store to buy a kit to replace the old handles with ones that match my brand of plumbing. It doesn't look as cool as these Pfister faucets, but at least they work well and don't leak! By the way, while you are at it, it is a very good idea to also replace the "seats". The replacements came with the kit I bought. You might have to buy a special tool. For advice, try to ask someone at the hardware store who knows what he's talking about. Old seats can be hard to remove, but it really should be done (the new ones stopped the dripping from the faucet that I used to have). ... show more

  • Great replacement for Pfister Verve handles
These handles were compatible to replace my very outdated-looking Pfister “Verve” handles. I was looking for a way to update my shower handles without having to get behind the shower wall or tear things up. This fit the bill. It was very difficult to figure out whether other handles would be compatible. I took a chance on this because of other comments saying it would be compatible. And I can confirm it was. The handles appear to be very good quality. I have had them in my shower for about a month, with no problems. I installed these myself. I don’t have a background in home improvement, but prior to this project, I learned how to replace the handles by watching a YouTube video, so I recommend doing that. ... show more
