  • Make sure you keep the tool sharp.
I used the tool to scoop out a chair seat on a child's rocking chair. A 3/16" deep dip was needed and the scorp was used to rough out the surface. The material was white oak and it worked reasonably well. Keeping the tool sharp, as with any cutting tool, made the project move along nicely. Pleased with the tool, a little pricey, but a good addition to my collection. ... show more

  • Four Stars
Nicely manufactured tool, as is the case with all Pfeil tools, though wasn’t honed as advertised.

I admit my scorp didn’t come as sharp as the rest of my Pfeil carving tools. But if you’re ordering a scorp, you should know how to sharpen you’re own tools. I paid 29.99, as compared to 54.99 regular Clearly there was a quality control issue on these scorps which is why everyone has them on sale. We as consumers should be thankful for the discount on these quality prices. 30 seconds on my leather belt and a honing stone for the interior, and I have a very high quality product with which I just shaved off my arm hairs. ... show more

  • Quality tool
Pfeil are made well with good hard steel that really hold an edge well. It comes sharp. The handle is comfortable.

  • Doesn't come with any edge.
They said it needed honing before use. The way it came it couldn't cut hot butter. Had to take it to a pro to have an edge put on and it is still almost useless.
