A second kid requires a second diaper bag in case they're separated. We had a good experience with Petunia Pickle Bottom's messenger bag style so we decided to give this version a try. Our biggest challenge with the messenger back was the lack of compartments and pockets. We wasted so much time digging through the bag that we eventually purchased an organizer like you might use for toiletries during travel. That let us store away the least used items so it was easier to find what we wanted. If anything, the convertible backpack exacerbates this issue. It has a couple of pockets too, but is an even deeper hole. I'd probably buy packing cubes for the bottom of this bag. Another significant change is the way the diaper area works. In the messenger bag, it was all right there under the flap. The changing pad folded out and zipped right back in. There were pockets for diapers and wipes. You didn't need to unzip the bag during changing. This bag has a (very small) loose pad that is stored inside. All of the pockets for diapers and wipes are inside. Not as convenient. In retrospect, I'm not even sure I would recommend the backpack configuration. We've all had backpacks. You can wear them with one strap, but they are always at a risk of slipping off. The messenger bag could be put over your head without this risk. The shoulder straps on this bag aren't padded and don't look very comfortable. Unfortunately, the bag has gone basically unused because, once it arrived, my wife wasn't happy with how it looks.

The bag is gorgeous, it looks and feels amazing. It has a great variety of compartments to organize my items among deep, insulated, zippered and non zippered pockets, and a padded compartment for the laptop which helps to avoid bringing several bags along when going out. I won't give 5 stars because it came empty, meaning none of the included features listed in the description: wipes case and changing pad. The convertible handle/straps are adjustable to any length, either as tote or backpack, it is extremely convenient to choose what suits best for different occasions.

Super nice bag. Made of a faux leather than is water resistant. The convertible strap is very nice. Personally I find it more comfy as a backpack but it’s comfy as a tote too. Although they don’t advertise it as a crossbody, I do think some folks would be able to wear it that way too, I didn’t find it comfy that way myself but I’m a size xl and just over 5’8”, I think someone smaller would be okay to wear it that way. It comes with a changing pad and a plastic wipe case that would make a good pencil case if your kids are out of diapers. Has a trolley strap on the back so it can easily be attached to luggage or some strollers. There are only two internal organization pockets in the main section, both are slip pockets (it’s where the changing pad and wipes case are stored when shipped). But the interior section is huge so it will fit a bunch of smaller organization bags. There’s also a padded laptop section in this main zippered section. The exterior of the bag has a zippered front insulated pocket (the largest bottle I fit was my 16 oz travel mug that is about 7.5 inches tall - it only fits in the center as that pocket is angled). There’s also another zippered pocket on the front that seems small compared to the rest of the bag, but it’s definitely big enough for things you want to fast access to. My phone in a case fits standing vertically and probably only takes up about 1/4 of that pocket when stored that way. There’s also a d-ring on the front for clipping keys or toys to. The back of the bag has the trolley strap, 2 d-ring for attaching to strollers and carts that the trolley strap doesn’t worth with. There’s also a huge open slip pocket that would be great for paperwork, books, etc. Overall: a well made backpack that has a ton of storage space but is light on internal organization pockets. More than roomy enough for most, especially when using your own smaller organizer bags inside.

Really well made. The leatherette fabric feels almost exactly like my nubuck boots. Not quite as smooth as leather but not quite as velvety as suede. The color and design are consistent with what the online pictures show. The insulated front pocket seems small but I haven’t tried to put bottles in it yet. The entire bag is slightly padded and the tech pocket that sits against your back seems like it would fit just about any laptop or tablet. There are no external bottle pockets and I was kinda surprised that most of the main compartment is just open. There’s a large flat compartment that sit against the back of the bag and then that divider has 2 pockets that holder the changing pad and wipes case that came with the bag. The wipes case is your standard, hard plastic case but it says Petunia Pickle Bottom on it and surprisingly, it’s black. I may swap it out for a soft case with a pop up opening for the wipes, but that’s just personal preference. The straps are a very smooth, slightly glossy webbing with 0 padding. There’s a padded handle on the top but none that would be on your shoulders. Despite that fact, the bag is still comfortable to carry (possibly because the straps are quite wide). I haven’t dirtied it yet because my little squirt hasn’t made his appearance yet but overall I’m very pleased with the size, quality and function of this bag. It’s a bit pricey but they deliver on quality for what you pay. Please hit the button if this info was helpful.
