I bought this bag as it fits the dimensions required for a Frontier flight. I had an excellent experience while on a cross country flight with my cat. It can be worn on your back like a traditional backpack swung to the front if you need eyes on your pet but also need to be hands free for things like ticketing or bag retrieval. HOWEVER, there are many things you need to consider before purchasing and understand that your experience may not be like mine. 1. My cat was sedated for my flight. He was relatively compliant as a result and was not anxious. As such, he was curled up comfortably while the bag was upright or laying flat when I placed the bag under my seat. An anxious animal that is trying to wiggled around or stand and pace will not work in this bag. My flight was only 5 hours and my pets sedation was effective for this length of time. If you are traveling for a longer period of time than this please consider flying with an airline that has better bag dimensions as this bag is quite confining. 2. Animals that are not as flexible as cats (dogs) may not work well with this bag as they require more room to stand and turn around. My partner initially bought this exact bag for our chihuahua mix that is the exact same weight as our cat but he could not tolerate this style due to its height compared to his leg length. Shorter/smaller dogs work best specifically puppies or below average sized toy breeds. 3. If you are not conscientious with your movements this can be a bumpy ride for your pet. If you bend, they roll. If you skip or run, they bounce. Again, this can be distressing for anxious pets. You must walk at a normal pace and keep your torso as upright as possible for their comfort. 4. My cat is a 13lb bowling ball and I could feel that the entirety of the international airport but I would also walk through the fires of hell for him. If you have back trouble, this is going to be a difficult carry. However, this bag does comfortably fit on top of my carry on (see pros below). Things That I Love: - This bag does fit under the seat without any issue when laid long ways and simply moved the straps to the sides. You will want to comfort your pet and SLOWLY switching from upright to flat. I would also recommend removing the hard pad at the base of the backpack when laying it flat as it gives your pet and extra inch or so to stretch out. While awaiting my turn to deplane I slide this hard pad back into the base of the backpack, remove the pad, and transition my pet back upright. I personally put a thin terry cloth mat that I bought for other carriers in my carry on/personal item (you can only have one or the other with Frontier when flying with a pet) and place this across the bottom. - The hard pad I mention above can be removed with a different zipper located at the base of the backpack so you don't have to move around your pet clumsily. - The base pad also has a zipper on it so you can wash it and remove any pet hair, mess, or spills. - There are multiple zippers around the back to allow you to remove you pet or interact with them mid flight. I can see this being helpful in emergency situations from code browns to simply offering your pet reassurance. - There are pockets! They aren't massive but they can hold quite a few things. I used these to store my phone, ID, credit card, pet treats, etc and it kept me hands free during my TSA check. - The bag can sit on top of luggage and be strapped on. This is helpful when I need a bathroom visit for myself and don't want to put my pet on the floor of the bathroom. The waist strap is made for securing the bag to your body but it is possible to place your pet on top and secure them with this strap so they don't fall off. Overall: I love this bag for the purpose that it was purchased and the price was extremely reasonable.

Great bag. Nicely constructed. We have a 16 lb Shitzu/Maltese, hes turning 14 so we were looking for a bag we can take hiking with us for when he cant keep up and he was chilling. There is a harness clip inside so when he decided he wanted to hang out of it paws out we weren't concerned for him jumping out. We tried other bags and we liked that this one had a zipper to completely open the bag so we could put him inside easily, other bags had just a opening in the top. The bottom insert is also furry which seemed more comfortable for him to sit in compared to the other that was just a plastic bottom. Overall we would definitely recommend for a small/medium sized dog. It is a bigger bag compared to the other we tried but he was much more comfortable and we were able to completely our hike with him safely.

I chose this one because it looks nice and is more like a backpack than a carrier. While I liked it, my cat did not. She found it dark and claustrophobic, similar to the kennel she hates. (The other colors with mesh on the sides are more suitable for a cat.) The backpack arrived factory sealed with a strong chemical smell. She wouldn't get near it. The photo says the bottom is 11.8 inches long but it's actually around 12.35 inches. The top is 11.8.

I wanted this to work. It appears to be well made and sturdy. I have a Frenchie who is on the smaller side, but there was no way I was getting him hin this backpack! He would have been stuffed and scrunched. He weighs right at 20lbs and his height was appropriate for what I read. Again, the product seemed sturdy and well made. Just for smaller and perhaps more "flexible" pets! Frenchies are not exactly floppy pets like a cat or a poodle.

I rarely leave reviews. But I love this so much I decided not to be lazy and write one. I struggled finding a bag that would fit my 22lb mini schnauzer/pug/mutt. But this one is perfect. He’s 11 and can only walk a mile before he gives up so this is perfect because he just walks into the bag and gets a ride for the rest of the hike. The bottom is like a hard surface (which is great because it gives him more stability) but the trade off is the metal bar can dig into your back - I’m gonna add a cushion or something to make longer hikes more doable. Every single time we use it I tell my husband how happy I am we bought it.

This was recommended to me by a stranger in the pet store. I could not find something I liked and he showed me his. He said his cat still loves his at 13 lbs and just sits in it after they arrive home. Our kitty does fine in hers too. I take her shopping and carry her on my back, or we take her on a walk in this backpack. Car rides are easy too with this.

Good luck putting dog in it… I have three yr old pug. Everytime I got him in it, the zippers would not hold and become unzipped.. definitely a two person job getting your pet in it!!! Funny, I haven’t seen any vids of this being done easily🤣
