  • Different Persona Game But Still Fun!
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch
If you're like me and love the Persona series, I'd say this game is worth playing. Yes, it's a little different than your normal Persona game, but it was still fun to play and a refreshing switch up from the usual! I'm still playing through the game, but the story so far is interesting and engaging!

it comes from retail so the package isn't like totally new (came with another plastic bag and price tag) but the game is indeed new and works. Also very good game

  • Phantom Thieves return for a fun SRPG spin
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch
Tactica takes a similar approach to Strikers in giving the Phantom Thieves yet another smaller scale yet fun adventure. But unlike Strikers that uses hack and slash Dynasty Warriors-esque combat, Tactica goes for strategic position and grid-based gameplay. Tactica brings back Persona staples such collecting Personas in battle and fusing them in the Velvet Room. It also puts its own fun spin on All-Out Attacks (the “Triple Threat”) and the One More battle mechanic. At first I wasn’t enthusiastic about the chibi art style, but it slowly grew on me. Fortunately the Persona 5 style and aesthetic is still very much there. Gameplay: As mentioned before, Tactica is smaller in scope compared to the epicly long mothership RPG Persona 5 Royal. While Royal can easily go over 100 hours, Tactica can be finished in 35-50 hours, give or take the optional quests. I enjoy the SRPG setting where you have to really think about the position and strengths of each character. Exploiting the triple threat and one more mechanics by flushing enemies out of cover is crucial to success for much of the game. The optional quests where you have to achieve objectives in just one turn can get quite challenging and really make you rack your brain. Characters/story: Erina and Toshiro are solid additions to the game and Persona 5 universe. Usually I’m not a fan of a new character coming in to hog the spotlight while previously established characters are pushed to the sideline, but the narrative built around Erina and Toshiro has good development and they’re characters I came to like and root for, especially Toshiro. (But if I say any more, that’ll verge into spoiler territory.) The Phantom Thieves don’t undergo major new changes or significant character arcs, rather they supplement to the Erina and Toshiro-centric narrative with their own past experiences that allude to Persona 5 vanilla/Royal. Gripes: There’s lag and drop in frame rate in certain places, such as the red bubbly loading screen between a cutscene and an upcoming battle, the transition into the Velvet Room, and leaving the squad sub-menu to return to the main menu overlooking a battle you’re about to start. These are minor; while noticeable, they don’t significantly detract from my playing experience and the actual combat plays out smoothly otherwise. Verdict: If you are a big fan of SRPGs and Persona 5, Tactica is worth the time and money. While it doesn’t bring anything truly earth-shattering or groundbreaking to the established Persona 5 canon, nor does it compare in scope and scale to the original game, it’s still a fun spinoff I enjoyed playing. ... show more

  • Persona 5 Takes the Stage in a Stellar Tactical RPG: Persona 5 Tactica Review
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch
Calling all Phantom Thieves and strategy enthusiasts alike! Persona 5 Tactica delivers a fresh spin on the beloved world of Persona 5, offering a deep and engaging tactical RPG experience. **So Much More Than Just a Skin** While it takes inspiration from its predecessor's world and characters, Persona 5 Tactica isn't just a reskin. The turn-based combat is meticulously crafted, incorporating movement and formation mechanics that add a new layer of strategic thinking. Persona fusion and exploiting enemy weaknesses are still central to success, but the emphasis on battlefield positioning and unit synergy creates a whole new way to experience Persona combat. **A Story That Steals the Show** The narrative in Persona 5 Tactica is more than just an excuse for combat encounters. A new cast of characters, including the intriguing Erina, blend seamlessly with the familiar faces of the Phantom Thieves. The story explores themes of rebellion and personal growth in a way that complements the original narrative, offering a fresh perspective on the world of Persona 5. **The Phantom Thieves Shine Once More** The game beautifully captures the essence of what made Persona 5 great. The stylish presentation, complete with the iconic music and menus, faithfully translates to the tactical RPG format. Seeing the Phantom Thieves strategize and unleash their Personas on the battlefield is a true treat for fans. **A Note on Challenge** While the combat offers strategic depth, some may find the difficulty curve a bit forgiving, especially on normal mode. However, the game's New Game+ mode and optional challenge missions provide opportunities to test your tactical mettle. **The Verdict: A Must-Have for Persona Fans and Strategy Buffs** Persona 5 Tactica is a resounding success. It delivers a rich tactical experience that feels strategically fresh while staying true to the heart of Persona 5. Whether you're a Persona diehard or a strategy RPG aficionado, Persona 5 Tactica is a game that deserves a place in your collection. ... show more

  • Fun Spinoff
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch
Not a standalone game, so if you haven't played the Persona series or Persona 5 specifically you may be a little confused. Not an entry point for the series, but an excellent spinoff that takes the same setting and characters and adapts them to a different style of gameplay.
