I have used gallons and gallons of this stuff over the years; I would not be without it. I was using it way back when it was Mr. Gasket. I never do any tedious gasket scraping; that went out with Model T Fords. I pull the two parts apart and try my best to keep the gasket intact; but, I don't lose sleep over it if the gasket separates, tears, breaks, or leaves a lot of itself on both surfaces. I just slather on a generous coating of this stuff and put things back together with whatever old gasket was on there to begin with. I have never had a leak. If I am dealing with new clean stuff with new gaskets, I slather both sides of the new gasket with this stuff; and, years later, when I take the thing apart, the gasket comes loose clean and in perfect reusable condition --- not all cooked on and stuck. ... show more

There are many brands for this type of product, but I always trust this brand. I was changing out the valve cover gasket in my Frontier. Not sure why manufacturers design things this way, but the channel for the gasket is on the cover you drop in, in stead of on the engine. So, you have to hold the cover in the air, with the gasket in it, and then align it to drop it in. Needed this product to hold the gasket in the groove, so it would not fall out due to gravity. Worked perfectly. A minimal amount did the job and it did not get all over the place. ... show more

I have been using #2 Form-A-gasket for over fifty years. Unlike RTVs or other sealants, you can assemble the components and use it right away. No waiting to dry or cure. I like it for water pumps, thermostat housings, and I also put a thin layer on coolant hoses before I clamp them down. The great thing is that you can always get the assemblies back apart when you want to with minimal scraping or clean-up. Great stuff! ... show more
