The material is good, the tube size adequate, but there is no tip for application in a small groove. I was putting a rubber seal in a small groove. This was to hold it in place and make sure that I got a good seal. I used a very small dowel to apply the material in the slot. Sure would be easier if a plastic tip was included. ... show more

There are many brands for this type of product, but I always trust this brand. I was changing out the valve cover gasket in my Frontier. Not sure why manufacturers design things this way, but the channel for the gasket is on the cover you drop in, in stead of on the engine. So, you have to hold the cover in the air, with the gasket in it, and then align it to drop it in. Needed this product to hold the gasket in the groove, so it would not fall out due to gravity. I ordered this Permatex 80016 Form-A-Gasket #2 Sealant, 3 oz. for a project restore a Beckman vacuum setup with a Thomas dedicated vacuum pump. It at first would not even hold a vacuum when running, but after just looking it over, running, sealing leaks and checkout of the diaphragm it is better and goes to 10" HG. This permatex form a gasket is for the seal around the flapper and diaphragm of the pump and with that I will expect it to work even better. I have used Permatex or years working pumps in the gas plant I worked in and it performs well when putting a pump or another mechanical device together to seal air leaks, oil leaks and generally put a good tight assembly up where needed. I know where and where not to use it and it is a good product. Many grades of use to choose from and this 80016 is a good general sealant and stays soft and pliable. I like it. Having bought a farm to retired to, I have to do my own repairs. My mower had a valve cover gasket leak. So I purchased this as I’ve used it when I used to rebuild engines, and a new gasket. The smell brought back memories. Remove the cover and clean thoroughly including the vent, clean the head surface as well. Apply a light coating to your valve cover, place the gasket onto the cover. Then apply a thin coat to the head gasket surface and reinstall the cover. Great stuff. ... show more

Used quite a bit of this during SBC 350 top end rebuild and only leak I have found was on the timing chain bottom gasket, which is rubber so that was my mistake as this was not supposed to be used in that manner.
