A great alternative at a great price

Mannnnnn I love this sd card for the price and the functionality alone it's with it. Being able to dump footage as fast as possible as a must in my world... And while I do have some of the camera branded versions of this card, this card is faster and has not given me any issues.

Easily meets advertised speeds and very affordable.
Capacity: (1-Pack) Style: Type A Standard 512
I was a little leery at first due to the lack of reviews of this product and no clear explanation of how the "standard" CFE-A cards differ from the "prime" or "professional" level cards. It appears it is just a binning process. I found this card (512GB "Standard" CFE-A) easily able to meet the advertised maximum read and write speeds. In order to measure this, one needs a CFE-A card reader, a computer port and a cable all rated for at least USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s) for these CFE 2.0 Type A (single lane PCIe 3.0-based) cards. Not just any cable or port will do. I learned the hard way that the cable that came with my card reader did not meet the appropriate standard, but once I switched cables, the reader worked like a charm. This card is for my Sony A7R-V RAW and video, and I am now awaiting a companion card for the second slot that I will use for JPEG. I have other brand (smaller) CFE-A cards that are just as fast, but too tiny for my photography. I welcome the more affordable prices of CFE-A of late so I can get the capacity I need without breaking the bank. Time will tell if these cards hold up, but I am optimistic. ... show more

Work perfectly in Sony FX30, for dual-card simultaneous recording at all data rates.
Capacity: (1-Pack) Style: Type A Standard 512
I bought these for my Sony FX30 camera. They work perfectly. I was amazed to get CF Type A cards like this for the price I paid (about $ 210 each). I've been using them for several months, and they have been perfect.

Memory card works great and is an amazing value!
Capacity: (1-Pack) Style: Type A Standard 512
I used this memory card on my Sony a1 shooting at 30 frames per second. The write to card speed is very fast and did not have any buffer issues

Not very fast but actually still fast enough for use case
Capacity: (1-Pack) Style: Type A Standard 512
We usually read files off the camera (Sony A7IV) with the USB C port on the camera as it is the most practical way to do it. But I now have an OWC Atlas reader and I was disappointed to see a sustained transfer of only about 550 or so MB/s (sometimes topping out at 580MB/s) reading out of the card (this being observed on Windows right now, will be doing it with Linux in the near future). This is much lower than the advertised 800MB/s but it's not really actually too far off. Basically, it's in the ballpark, and I can't really complain all that much considering how much cheaper this product was than the other options in the market. I just ran an ATTO disk test on this (QD4 direct I/O) and got values of nearly 700MB/s read and only about 130MB/s write, which is honestly atrocious. Then I ran CrystalDiskMark 9.0.3 after reconnecting it from what i had it on for the ATTO test (daisy chained thunderbolt port on my Aoostar EG02) to plug into the USB3 10Gbps port on the motherboard, and I got some better write numbers but Seq1M Q1T1 shows 425MB/s read and 345MB/s write, which again would be atrocious. We'll see. Have I would estimate probably 10TB written to this card already. I guess I should keep benching it to see if perf keeps degrading as an indication of impending failure, but I can tell that with this enclosure i am getting 350MB/s write and up to 580MB/s read but read speed seems inconsistent. I am downgrading to 4 stars because of this strange observed behavior. I have another CFe (4.0) type A card though and it is benching cleanly 1.5GB/s read and 820MB/s write. So... it's not hugely important to me what benching the disk on windows shows. Because I already know the write speed exceeds what is necessary for the A7IV to shoot 10fps indefinitely with large compressed RAW, it's able to vacate its internal buffer to this memory card continuously. That's obviously really nice but also mildly overkill if I'm being honest. ... show more

Not reliable
Capacity: (1-Pack) Style: Type A Standard 512
Worked well at first.. a year I thought, maybe the dropped video frames was my Sony A7 iv. Then I got "card full" when only a third used. Formatted in camera, fine. Then one sunrise the camera informed me cannot read card. Insert again. Inserted. Can't read format? Video lost. Shoot lost. Repeatedly this is the scenario. I contacted them chat "we are unavailable, online form. .. three days to answer. Subsequent emails.. we forwarded your problem to tech support. Its a bad chip! Then it took two weeks to get return instructions, with no authorization number to expedite a return, just mail it to us. No statement of replacement. Frankly, I expect the to continue to try to weasel from replacement. I hope Im wrong. I would not buy from them again unless they correct this with grace. You shouldn't have to suffer the loss of use, loss of cash, loss of peace when dealing with them. Pergear needs improved product and improved product support. I will update this review if they redeem themselves. Had to buy another chip before I can send them this one... I shoot just about every day. ... show more
