This is the best safflower seed I have purchased! There is NO debris in the bag and no musty smell like some other bags have, and the cardinals, wrens, and house finches love it. However, the squirrels, common grackles, and blue jays do not, so it's working to keep those little critters away from the food for the smaller guys! I especially like that the Cornell Lab of Orinthology is partnered with Pennington to provide the best quality, and best value for the money, in bird seeds. Birds don't eat all the varied contents: We've used this brand and a very similar formula that we bought locally. When that source dried up, we tried ordering this on Amazon. But the birds consistently leave 1/4 to 1/3 of the seeds (by content). They leave the same ones each time, so I assume they do not like those types of seeds. We have lots of varieties of birds - so they shouldn't ALL dislike the same type seed =) Also, there are a LOT of pieces of wood and sticks.
