We picked up a used futon for free from the Facebook Marketplace, a nice steel one that came with a somewhat OK mattress pad, but I decided to seek something better. Finding this was a Godsend, because it makes a standard futon mattress seem shabby and inadequate by comparison. Even my cats like it better! The innerspring mattress arrived in a compact roll, fairly easy to move, even though I'm disabled. I placed the roll on the futon platform, and gently sliced the plastic away, and poof! A couple of quick adjustments, and I had a futon worth sitting or laying on. The innerspring mattress is MUCH more comfortable than any standard futon mattress, and beats a hide-a-bed by a country, city, and suburban mile. Because of its thickness, it also makes standing up a lot easier! My futon actually feels as good as a decent quality sofa, and certainly lots better than one we had a few years ago. This is a purchase I don't regret, and can't recommend it ore highly for futon owners!

I am very happy with my purchase. The mattress is comfortable. I appreciate that it was made in the U.S. It does have a chemical odor that needs awhile to dissipate. But this is the norm for this kind of product.

When I got this product, the first thing I noticed was it seemed too thin for 8 inches. The manufacturer said it was to be measured crown to crown or lowest point to highest point. Even when flat on the floor, its thickest point was still 6 in not 8. I ordered this because I'd had a mattress with spring coils before and they hold up better than foam. I do like the hinge feature of this mattress, but I'm not impressed with the manufacturer stretching the depth. I had 2 in foam already on hand and added it. Then it was comfortable and didn't cause hip pain when laying on it. I re-read the description about foam because I thought maybe I missed something. I unzipped the mattress to inspect what they described as "thick foam". Their idea of thick foam is 2 at best 1/2 pieces of cheap white foam on top of the springs. I would not call this thick. The foam was cheap, not a dense foam. Unless your willing to add additional foam to make it better, I would not buy it.
