This works great for our 8 year old (about 53" and 55lbs) and gives him room to grow into it. He can move and maneuver well, much easier at this age than a high side kayak. It fits into our SUV so easy to get to the lake. The back is a must and keeps him very comfortable and supported. Highly Recommend!

We got this kayak for our 9 year old to paddle around in the pond behind our house. It works great for that, but keep in mind it does have drainage holes on the bottom so the pond does need to be a clean pond, you shouldn't use this in a dirty slough. It's not as manuverable as a true kayak, but it it easy enough for him to paddle around safely and just get the idea down. I sat in it and it will hold me, but it is not meant for adults, kids and younger teens only.

I got this kayak for my daughter. She loves to learn kayaking so much. This is a good youth size for her. It is lightweight and stable. For my daughter, it is great kayak to start with. It is safe to sit on and the paddles are easy to use. Also, there is a function in the kayak to help draining the water comes in - very safe. Highly recommend!
