I purchased the Pelican 1510 Case with padded dividers to protect most of my camera gear and other related equipment and it’s exactly the kind of quality I expected from Pelican. The case feels extremely solid, the latches are secure, and the padded divider system makes it easy to customize the interior for different pieces of gear. I have a Canon EOS R6 Mark II and a Mark III body in there with 4 lenses, 2 external monitors, two light sources and 2 extra batteries + a dual charger. It’s tight but not so much so that I’m concerned about damage to any of my equipment. As you’d probably expect, it’s not a lightweight case, but that’s part of the tradeoff for this level of protection. I would rather have something sturdy and dependable than something flimsy when hauling expensive equipment from my studio out to my horse farm and when traveling. The wheels and handle make it easy to get around, especially when it’s fully loaded. Overall, this is a professional-quality case that gives real peace of mind. It is expensive, but in my opinion, it is worth it if you are protecting cameras, lenses, audio gear, or anything else you do not want damaged.

I am a professional photographer in the entertainment industry. I shoot lots of red carpet events and a whole lot of concerts. I bought this case from Amazon at 45% off retail with free shipping. My case arrived in 24 hours after Amazon shipped it. Case came in a big cardboard box that my cats now use as a playhouse. (bonus) Now let's get to the case. I have bought and used a half dozen cases over the course of my career that has taken me from coast to coast many, many times. (I'm on the east coast) By far, I'm lovin' how easy this case rolls down the ramp to the plane and then pops in the overhead. (wheels are recessed into the case and will never break off) This is the largest size allowed to fit in the overhead. It fits perfectly. I have much praise for the pull up handle too. You can reach for the handle and push out a tab that unlocks the handle so it can be pulled up, all with one hand. A major convenience in my book. When in the extended position, the handle is attached by a very sturdy piece that is as wide as the handle. (not a thin tube on either side of the handle) The handle goes back in as easily as it pulled up by the way. Three more thoughts about the exterior before we go inside. The latches that open and close the case are so solid. When closing the case there are two latches that click close in two clicks that you can definitely feel clicking and you are very confident the case is closed and will not open until you decide to open it. (ever pick up a case and everything falls onto the floor? Not with this baby) There are two holes for locks next to the latches that you can buy to lock your case as well if you plan to ship this through instead of carry on. There are also two wonderful extra handles on the top and side of the case that make lifting much easier. (they have extra padding on them) This case is so sturdy that I use it instead of a ladder or step stool when I am at a red carpet event and need a little extra height to shoot over the person in front of me on the rare occasions I might be in the second row of photographers. Now lets go inside... I opted to get the padded dividers purchased with the case. I believe you would be paying twice as much to buy the case and the dividers separately. Dividers are very adaptable for any situation you could come up with. I even have mine configured so that two of the dividers are on top like I am closing the lid of a box. Speaking of boxes, the dividers are all attached to a padded box that fits inside the case. (more padding..even better) The case holds quite a bit of equipment. I have inside mine, two Canon camera bodies with a wide zoom on one and a 35-105 on the other body, two more lenses; a 70-200 zoom and a 100-400 zoom. A 580 EXII Canon flash and several diffusers. Also a flash bracket some cards and a bunch of packs of batteries. When I need to, I can also fit remote control triggers and a few other small pieces inside as well as a tight fit. Bottom line, this is a great case if you are tired of carrying all this on your back or on your shoulder like I did for years. I LOVE THIS CASE!

On my quest to assemble the ideal storage and transport solution for my camera gear, I came across this case and haven't looked back since. Including the (highly recommended) accessory holder for the top, I can fit the following gear perfectly: 5D mk ii and 5d mk iii bodies with grips 4x canon camera batteries and 2 canon chargers 3x 600ex flashes and st-e2 transmitter 3x sto fen omni bounce diffusers 2x tamrac battery case w/ 32 total aa eneloop batteries 24-70 2.8 L ii w/ hood 70-300 4-5.6 L w/ hood 100 2.8 L macro w/ hood 135 2.0 L w/ hood Canon intervalometer and remote shutter release Pelican Cf memory card holder w/ up to 8 cards Blackrapid shoulder and wrist straps Pocket rocket lens cleaner and several microfiber cleaning cloths The protection, durability, and design of this system (if contents fitted correctly) is absolutely incredible. True to the Pelican brand, this will withstand just about anything, but most importantly, it is nearly immune to moisture, dust, and moderate impacts, which are huge weaknesses in most non-rigid camera cases. At 220lbs, I would stand on this while full of gear without a second thought and it makes a passable seat when none are available. This is the perfect size for overhead storage in flights and the wheels work pretty well on smooth surfaces such as airports and sidewalks. Traveling overseas with this offered great piece of mind, as nobody in their right mind should ever check expensive electronics to be mishandled and potentially stolen by airport staff. The design also allows the use of locks and I've found the addition of a security cable running through the locks and around a solid structure is a pretty effective deterrent when you are away. When I need to take my gear into the field or run & gun on assignment, I use a Lowepro toploader and/or S&F cases & belt for whatever combination I need. This allows me to choose the right tools for the job from my Pelican case and its always nice knowing everything has a cozy and safe home when I'm finished. Considering the substantial investments you make in camera gear, it only makes sense to protect your equipment with the best available solution. I my mind, it's the Pelican 1510 hands down.

I've now used this case on a couple of photo gigs during the last month, and overall, I love it. It's cheaper than all the camera-specific soft-sided rolling cases and is a lot more durable in a big way. I love that when my camera gear is riding in this case, I have absolutely no worries what so ever. When I received this case I immediately noticed that it was smaller than I was expecting. It was important for me to get something carry-on compliant though, so that's not Pelican's fault. It doesn't fit every last little thing I had hoped to cram in there, but it did allow me to consolidate a camera backpack and 2 random camera bags into the one case after removing a few insignificant things. Bottom line for those who don't want to read the details? Yes I would buy this case again if I needed this size. Yes I would recommend it to a friend. Yes I'm thrilled with the purchase and the price! In the future I plan to buy a similarly equipped case that's larger for local gigs, and you can believe it's going to be a Pelican! The Details: *Padded divider system is adequate but not so padded that it wastes a lot of space. This is awesome. Some bags and cases on the market waste so much space through unnecessarily over-padded walls and dividers that it's ridiculous how much space is wasted. Also, It's worth mentioning that I have extra dividers left after I configured my case. Always a plus! *The case itself is waterproof and overall is tough as nails. I can't wait to throw some travel at this case and see what she'll put up with. *While not the typical inline-skate wheels you see on most luggage and rolling cases, the wheels do appear to be quite solid. *I'm 6ft tall and sometimes find luggage and rolling cases to be uncomfortable to pull with how low their handles are. Happily, I don't have this issue with this case. *Organization! With the padded dividers and the optional lid organizer, this case is awesome for organizing my gear. Both my assistants absolutely love this case, and it's also easy for me to describe where stuff is without having to show them. If you buy this case, you need to get the lid organizer. Period. It's cheap and so handy! *Appearance: Now, a lot of people will tell you this isn't important. What I can say though, is that with weddings especially, but also other assignments, perception on the part of your clients and their guests is everything. This case definitely looks legit, while rolling behind us and when we open it up to reveal the myriad of equipment we use, all organized into compartments. *The extra handles on the outside of the case (the non-extending ones) are crazy solid and very very handy when you need to move the case without the wheels, or load it into a car or a shelf. SOLID! And rubberized! Other comments: *The recesses for the wheels protrude into the inside of the case a bit. There really isn't a way around this if you want to keep the wheels protected, but I still found this to be mildly annoying when trying to make everything fit. *The main pull handle is weird. It's one solid piece of molded plastic, rather than your typical telescoping luggage handle. It functions fine, and my guess is that it will surpass the typical luggage-style handles in longevity because it's leagues more durable and doesn't have moving parts. Still though, it's just a bit odd and it does flex a little bit in the middle. Overall though, still solid. I love that it locks when it's extended, and it locks when you push it back down into the case as well. *One thing I didn't realize I'd miss: No pockets on the outside. On all my bags and backpacks and on my personal luggage, I've gotten used to large, flat outer zipper pockets. For photography, they were perfect for flat-folding light modifiers, lighting gels, disc reflectors, etc. Now I keep these items stored under the padded divider tray. Luckily the version I received has a padded bottom, so my assistants and I are able to pull the whole tray out to get to the flat items underneath. What I fit in this case with a little experimentation and creative packing: *2 Nikon DSLR's with Power Grips *1 Nikon SB900 Speedlight (not in it's case) *1 Nikon SB600 Speedlight (in it's case with it's foot/stand) *1 Nikon SB24 Speedlight (in it's tie-up case) *3 Pocket Wizard Plus II Transceivers *Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 Lens with Hood (mounted to one of the cameras) *Tokina 12-24mm F4 Lens with Hood *Nikon 50mm F1.4G Lens *Nikon DX 35mm F1.8G Lens *Lensbaby Composer in the Lensbaby Case (tucked inside lightspere mentioned below). *Old Nikon 70-210mm F4 Lens with Hood (similar in size I believe to the 80 to 200 F2.8 non-VR lens) *5 Dot-Line AA Battery Cases (each fit 8 AA Batteries) *Nikon SB-D9 Battery Pack for SB900 *Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere (the non-collapsible kind. The Pelican 1510 is a great camera kit carrier. It is small enough to fit in an overhead bin for a full-size airplane. The outside shell is rugged. You can lock the lid with TSA-approved locks (must be purchased separately), which makes it secure. There are wheels and an extending arm built into the back of the unit, and it rolls well. There is a fair amount of interior padding, and it is configurable so that you can fit your camera gear the way that makes the most sense to you. The padded dividers are on the thin side, but they work fine. I highly recommend the optional lid organizer, which holds smaller items like a Lens Pen, extra batteries and cards, small flashlight, cables, etc. One of the zippered areas on the lid organizer is big enough for at least a mid-sized flash. The Pelican is waterproof down to 30 feet, and has a rubber o-ring gasket. The o-ring is replaceable. You can add an optional personalized plate on the outside near the handle -- Pelican's web site has details on the plate. There is a pressure valve on the outside that permits pressure to automatically equalize without letting water in (it is a Gore-Tex membrane with holes big enough to let air molecules in but small enough to keep water molecules out). It does not look particularly large, but it carries quite a lot. What is special about the Pelican compared to my other bags is that it is designed to be flat (or rolling), so I have a tendency to fill the Pelican (i.e., stack items) so that the inside is completely filled. In comparison, I have a tendency to not completely fill my backpacks and slings. The net effect is that I generally carry more items in the Pelican than I do with my other equivalent-sized bags.

I bought this for a recent long term trip to a very hot and dusty location, going to get drug through everything, destination. And oh how I have beat this awesome case. (I bought the case w/ padded dividers and did not option for the upper pockets, with the idea being that padding in the top is better than mesh for what I need this case for) Here's a list of what it has survived (I have a picture of the contents prior to leaving, in case you think I treat my gear this way because I haven't invested much...yeah...the only thing I do really care about and try and take care of is my camera and gear...) so, with that disclaimer, I present the following: 1. Drug about 1 mile through rocks/gravel...a lot lot lot of dust...inside is perfect, no intrusion...scraped the case up pretty good, only gave it some character! THIS IS THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS CASE: There is a tiny hole on the back of the case where the handle settles down into when it is not used...this filled up with rocks and I couldn't put the handle all the way down. I took the back piece off (only 6 screws) cleaned out the rocks and we were back in business (I'm going to put tape over it for now...maybe...) but that's my only issue with the case. (and note that the hole is in the outer added handle assembly..it in no way intrudes to the inside of the case) 2. Dropped off the side of a C17...trying to maneuver out of the aircraft and, well, the case went tumbling...about 10 ft...down stairs...to a concrete finish. And it survived! (this is the first damage I did to the case, even before dragging it through rocks) 3. Dropped it many many times, just nothing as severe as when I dropped it down the stairs on the C17... 4. Pinned between a forklift and a wall...though not hard...the guy driving the fork wasn't paying attention and I had left the case by the office door for all of 30 seconds when it happened...but hey...the case held up...not even a mark! (which I find disapointing...I say scrape it up, let me see some character on it!) Needless to say, in my two weeks of ownership thus far, I am extremely impressed with the endurance and how much this case puts up with. Can't wait to see what this case will look like when my tour is done at the end of the year! THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST CARRY ON SIZE CASE THAT YOU CAN BUY IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR EQUIPMENT! (and look, I used the correct YOU'RE!) If it puts up with what I'm puting it through, it'll be more than fine in that cozy overhead bin on the way to Florida...or Montana? But who wants to go to Montana?

I travel a lot between the US and Central America, frequently with expensive and fragile equipment: cameras, lenses, flashguns but also logic analyzers, electronic PCBs, prototypes of defibrillators etc. This case is quite configurable and works very well for the smaller equipment including the photographic gear, but will not fit the bigger tools. While the product description gives the external dimensions, with the thickness of plastic and the inner padding the usable volume is significantly smaller - no surprise there. Here are the dimensions of the inner volume as measured with the padding on: Length: 19"1/4; Width: 10"1/4 measured across the opening (the volume has a slight chamfer for molding reasons) Depth: 5"1/4 depth (case itself) + 1"3/8 (cover fitted with the Pelican 1519 Lid Organizer for 1510 and 1514 Case). Add to that the volume of the wheel wells on either side and you get a pretty good idea of the volume we are talking about. The dividers are composed of one Velcro-attached off-center (1/2" thick) division that runs across the whole case on its long dimension and other Velcro-attached divisions (1/4"thick) that can be placed on either side of the off-center one. This might not be the most flexible combination and you will have to spend some time thinking of how you want to organize your gear, in particular for the long lenses that will not fit vertically. All these measurements are approximates as the padding is a little flexible and elastic. The lid organizer mentioned above does provide with significantly more storage at the cost of the softness of the foam that comes with the case. I don't regret the purchase at all, but you may want to consider precisely what to put in what pouch considering what will be sitting in front when closed. See my review on that product page for more details. The dividers are black, which does not help with finding stuff in there in low light. I systematically pack a small light, always in the same pocket of the lid organizer so that I can find it. The case itself is great. The wheels, while small and hard are well built and so far they operate just fine. The pull-up handle is somewhat weird looking, being a simple thick blade of plastic. The handle itself it too wide to slip on it these carry-on bags which feature a strap to put around your luggage handle - too bad. It is not as inconspicuous as I wish it were when traveling, as obviously I paid good money to pack whatever might be inside - not a problem in the US but could be an issue in the third world. All in all a very sturdy piece of equipment. While it is not a panacea it is certainly increases dramatically the survivability of my equipment. Don't hesitate to leave comments or ask questions.

I'm moving soon, and I wanted a case I'd KNOW wouldn't be damaged. I found Pelican when I searched for hard-top cases. I think long term, so I also wanted something that I could use in the future (I'm going to photography school, so therefore I'd be getting more equipment.) This case is already amazing, and it like. Just got here. The build is strong, if you knock on it it doesn't make any noise, like if you're knocking on a counter, so it's obviously not just plain hollow. The case itself looks just a tad intimidating. When you try to get the handle, you can't, because there's a latch that keeps it secure, so it doesn't flop around. The latch is easy (just pull it back a little), so it's not a big deal. It DOES seem like it could break kinda easily, though. There are two lock places, on the outer edge of each latch. I tried with a masterlock padlock I have, and they fit just fine, to give you an idea how big they are. The latches are a little tough to undo, which is a good thing. If you close it, you need to listen for TWO sounds. They're... I can't describe it, but they're loud. I honestly don't know WHY the other reviewers didn't see to push them in more, since (to me, at least) they don't look totally closed at the first bang-like noise. The second is louder than the first, and sounds a lot more secure. The foam dividers are a little tricky, just like they all are, so you just need to sit down and fiddle around with them until you're happy. The center divider has some odd raised edge, I'm not too sure why. The dividers come in a little box-like formation with a central divide, and I believe four per section. The bottom protection seems a little iffy for me, but the foam feels study enough that I'm almost positive I won't shatter a lens (same with the sides). Opening the case is a little difficult, since it seems to want to stay at a 45 degree angle. If you give it a little push, it'll open to a 90. The foam padding on the top keeps trying to slip, but that's nothing a little double-sided tape can't fix. Please note the case does NOT come with the top organizer, and if you read the item description / details, it'd be obvious. It comes with an egg-carton foam design. I checked for the so-called rivets that apparently you attach the case to, though. I don't see them, just raised bumps, so you probably need to drill the organizer in yourself. The weight is lighter than expected, but just a tad on the heavy side (the box slipped and fell, thank God the case is indestructible), but I can see it being a problem when trying to fly. The built-in extras are a little annoying, and they do take time to fit properly. (Hence the reason they both got four instead of five stars.) Overall, this is an amazing case, and an essential for anyone who travels with their equipment, or wants to make sure it's completely protected.
