This is a great lunch cooler. I pack my husband's lunch and breakfast carries his water. The dry tray is a must! Plus the little compartment on top is good for silverware, paper work. I just want to say first that I’m a huge Pelican fan and have loads of their cases and products and love them. I’ve been using a lesser quality lunch cooler for when I take longer road trips so I decided to grab one of these (14q). Love the size, it’s perfect to sit behind my front seats or keep on the front passenger seat. Very easy to open with one hand and can store a decent amount for its size. The downside is that I’ve been testing how long it will hold ice and cool temps for the past week since getting it, and 48 hours is pretty much the range for keeping things refreshingly cool. 4lbs of ice in with 5 standard water bottles and 2 12oz cans (already cold when out in) didn’t last 24 hours. The cold melted water stayed acceptably cool for another 24 hours but after that, I had to top off or just refill with ice. This was really just testing to see how long ice would hold and how long it would keep acceptable temps so I really only opened it once every 10-12 hours to see how it was doing. Now granted, right now we are experiencing crazy high heat index (for my area) of 104-110 so I give it that these are extreme temps for my area but nowhere like some of the other reviews say so not sure if my lid is not properly compressing closed or what. So I like it, it looks great, and will hold temps for my day trips or a little longer. I just know I wont put perishables in it and go unchecked for more than 2 days. ... show more

The cooler is nice for those who do outdoor work like road building, iron working, logging etc. oftentimes stores or lunch trucks are not convenient. You can fit a lot of drinks in the bottom to stay hydrated all day and then the top tray keeps your sandwiches and food dry and cold. Best of all, there is a dry compartment on the top lid and you can keep your badges, keys, wallet and other little bits and pieces 😉 so you don't have too much s*** in your pocket all day. I pack mine up each morning. I throw my truck keys, my wallet and my site and badge in the top and away I go without a bunch of different things to carry. Plenty of room to get you through those long shifts where you're eating Breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus break time and best of all the amount of money I save at the gas station Buying food each day and more than Pays for the cooler in a week, And allows me to buy more scratch off tickets and nicotine products. 🤟 Another nice thing is that this cooler is not super heavy like a yeti. It's solid. You can sit on it. You can stand on it but it doesn't weigh 50 lb empty and you're not going to throw your shoulder out grabbing it out of the truck bed. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. Pelican does make a seven quart size but I feel that would be too small for somebody who's away from the house for 10 or 12 plus hours a day. I almost did not buy this because of the price and I am primarily using it just for a lunch box. After the last episode of my old lunch box’s handle coming off, dropping the contents all over the ground I purchased it. I am so glad I did, this thing is awesome. It’s heavy duty and has lots of room for my lunch stuff and drinks. The latches are well made, hold securely, and are easy to use. The handle is also well constructed and robust. It won’t be failing anytime soon. The basket is a perfect spot for more fragile food stuff. I dig that the lid opens up to reveal a slim storage space inside the lid. I keep my wallet and keys and shades in there while I am working. All in all this little box does more than I expected and is a quality piece of equipment.
