Description
Pelican Protector Cases are made with Copolymer Polypropylene, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter that the completion. You can tell its a Pelican case by the distinctive "twin-ribbed" top surface. Stainless steel pins are used for hinges and handles. The new Double-Throw latches are much easier to open.

Not a bad deal for $42 for the black case, but be prepared to take your time and plan customization of the foam. WHY DID I BUY? I needed a case that was suitable for carrying a GoPro Hero3+ Silver with some accessories. I chose the $42 1200 model over the $80 1400 mode because I felt the 1400 was just too much case for a single GoPro. This is my first one and I do not expect to get a second one anytime soon. OVERVIEW I found the cell foam super easy to work with. Use your fingers to customize it. Mark your corners and turns with toothpicks and use a single toothpick to get started. The fingers finish out the work. I was able to fit the following into the case... - GoPro Hero3+ Silver (in the 131' housing) - GoPro floaty mounted to standard door - GoPro skeleton door - Two (2) GoPro Hero3+ Silver batteries - GoPro dual battery charger - GoPro USB charger - GoPro head mount and head / hat clip - GoPro flex arm and thumb screws - GoPro fixed mount with thumb screw - GoPro curved and flat mounts (stored under a layer of foam until applied to a surface later) - GoPole Grenade Grip including the wrist tether and carabiner If I were to change one thing, I would've started the customization of the foam by starting with the camera and housing and NOT the GrenadeGrip. By starting the layout with an L-shaped piece, I never recovered and had a mixed up layout in the foam. PROS - Case is very sturdy -- built like a tank - Cell foam is very flexible for what you get - Easy of customization - Solid latch mechanisms CONS - Really need to plan carefully before customizing - Cell foam doesn't hold up when whittled down to 1x1 squares between sections - Needs a secondary horizontal cross cut to allow for vertical customization SUMMARY A great case if you have a single GoPro with very few big accessories.

I just got my Pelican 1200.... it is perfect! I was concerned about the small size at first, but the depth of it makes it a perfect combination. I was able to easily pluck out foam to leave enough space for my Glock 19 (with an attached TLR 4 < Flashlight and laser pointer> with the upper rail pulled back in order to demonstrate even through airport X-ray that the gun is in fact unloaded just to minimize questions from TSA and being the extra cautious it also allows the original Glock lock that runs through the chamber all the way down to the handle to be run to dissipate any doubts to the fact that no bullets are in the gun . Also, I put a box of 50 9mm Luger bullets, and 3 clips. I put the box of bullets and 1 clip at the bottom of the area I had cut for the gun. The reason it all works out perfectly is due to the ample depth the Pelican 1200 has. Remember these boxes were thought to be used with equipment such as cameras which are more voluminous than a gun; thus allowing for plenty of depth. The bos seems strong, sturdy and the locking mechanism is perfect easy enough to operate but not so easy that a small child can open it. Also be aware that you will be needed slightly longer than standard shackle length on your locks for them to work well, The pelican is thick where the lock loops go through so you will need the extra size. If anyone wants to see photos of how the box was arranged to fit all the items mentioned. I am flying next week in US Air let's hope all goes smoothly.
