Got this for gift to daughter. I buy gifts ahead of time for birthdays and Christmas and I plan on this one being a Christmas present. She loves arts and crafts and these are along her other likes as well. They look durable, but I have not filled with water or anything, so I'm not 100% sure.

The white glue that they include does never quite dried even after 24 hours as the water had pieces of glue floating around and turned the water cloudy. Very disappointing.

A grandma, grandpa and a 4 year old granddaughter worked on putting these snow globes together. We had a great time! There are 2 steps where you should wait for the glue to dry for hours regardless of what the instructions say. Its not easy for kids to wait hours like that so its a good idea to have another activity to fill in the time. We waited 4 hours for the glue to dry in Step2 and waited another 4+ hours for the glue to dry in Step4. Step4 instructions say to wait for 15 minutes after gluing the figurine to the base. 15 minutes isn't nearly enough if you're using the glue that came with the set. The glue was definitely dry when we completed the remaining steps. Some of the charms didn't stay glued on after putting the globe on the base even though we pressed pretty hard on the charms/figurines when glued. The dexterity required to work on this craft is lost on a 4 year old. Even if you're working with older kids keep an eye on them. There's a lot going on requiring adult supervision to guide children through each step. As usual when working with glitter it went everywhere. When we were done we had a bunch of clay, glitter, glue, flakes and small blue rocks left we will use for other crafts. Don't put too much glitter in each globe or it'll overwhelm the visuals in the globe. We found that 1/4 of a glitter tube was enough when using the darker colors. (See pics). When we put the water in and screwed the globe onto the base we were careful to tighten it till it was water tight but stopped before over-tightening it. If you're wondering if its tight enough just shake it up and see if its watertight and continue tightening and testing till it is. The end result isn't spectacular (see pics) but the time spent with the littles is and they just love the globes when they're done. ... show more

They should have upped the pricing by $5 and used higher quality parts. That said, making your own "Snow Globe" is a totally cool idea that kids of almost any age will love. Okay so this is a really neat kit for kids that love snow globes but can't be trusted with glass. Now the box says that it's for four plus as far as age goes but my 7 year old still has problems manipulating clay in order to make defined shapes so I don't know how accurate that is. My kids had difficulty with it. One of the snow globes actually had some deformities in it so they didn't want to use that one. So currently I am wrapping up their snow globes for them because they gave up. They said it was too hard. Overall I think it's a cute concept though. When they're together they're going to be really fun and really easy to play with for them. They are really tiny so some of the bigger figurines take up most of the snow globe but that's okay cuz it's just supposed to be a first time snow globe so it should be fine. ... show more

Our family loves doing different crafts. Make your own water globe has been something we have wanted to do for awhile. So I was really glad this set had everything you need to make your own. The cute animals were each so adorable and allowed you to make your own themes for each globe. There is a learning curve to this. In terms of adhesive, I suggest if you want everything to stay at the bottom of the globe and not move around. It would be best not to use the glue they included, I found it did not have the strength needed to hold everything at the bottom. We had some epoxy that worked the best. The glitter is a cute additive but decreases visibility of the contents inside the globe. Its a great kit to get creative with and we all had fun. I would get this kit again as a gift for someone. I like the premise behind these, but the execution could've been better. Like other reviewers have said, the glue is useless, you'll need to use hot glue or super glue. The actual experience of making the globes was fun for my kids and they didn't have any problems, so for that reason I'm happy, but for the adult that will need to help with these it will be a bit frustrating. ... show more
