Description
Mike Cameron is Senior Security Manager of the Royal Union bank’s card division. His career is on an upward curve and his future appears promising.Although he doesn’t know it, five people are about to shape his destiny and change his life forever. The first, Cameron’s partner Jenny, is an air stewardess not yet ready to make a permanent commitment to their relationship. She embarks on a series of compulsive actions that will have profound consequences for the Cameron household. Then there is Sergio Freschetti, a young English Italian, bent on the easy life, who has learnt the rudiments of petty credit card crime whilst employed in his uncle’s wine- exporting business, and who develops an unhealthy friendship with a dubious Asian Canadian. Next is Charles Roland, a ruthless banker from Australia who knows, and enjoys using, every trick in the book. Number four is ‘Dipper’ Doddy Mawgan, a small-time London pickpocket, who picks one pocket too many. And last, but by no means least is Nicole Tanguy, a highly qualified fast- track banking professional from Paris who knows what she wants and how to get it. Cameron is in a race against time. He is on the trail of an international ring of card counterfeiters, but someone is out to destroy him and his career. This is a story not just about the seamier side of the payment card industry and the continuous technological battle waged by banks, card associations and law-enforcers against increasingly sophisticated lawbreakers, but also about the cost in terms of human misery and enlightenment.
