Description

It’s three o’clock in the morning in Beverly Hills and fiction writer Mike Lundy is standing at his front window, watching a vintage Duesenberg slowly pass by his house. Sitting in the backseat is popular silent film star Louise Brooks, hoping to recover compromising photos she has left at Mike’s house. Possible? Yes, if it were 1927. But Mike lives in the year 2011!And the photos? They’re in the possession of her cuckold husband, movie director Eddie Sutherland, who has plans to turn the pictures over to the Los Angeles Times—unaware that the exposé will not only lead to his and Louise’s banishment from the movie industry but to her suicide and his murder. Mike, able to see their futures, must decide if he should try to stop Eddie from publishing the revealing photos. But if he does, he realizes he would be altering the past, and in doing so, changing history. Read more

  • The Vanity - A Movie Waiting to Happen!
Mr. Murillo has slipped back through the walls of time to invade old Hollywood to pull a group of characters into the present day to take their places in an intriguing tale of love, revenge, and dogged determination. The plot is clever; the storyline unique; and I willingly succumbed to the time-warped twists and turns of a thoughtful and complex adventure, and found myself rooting for most of the players, who were both believable and likeable, in spite of their flaws. I was also afforded the opportunity to meet a grand lady from the silent film era that I might have never gotten gotten to know. I couldn't put the book down, and this type of writing places Mr. Murillo right alongside many of the heavyweights, and in my opinion is worthy of a screenplay. The main character, Mike Lundy is a real hero, and I can't wait to see him again! ... show more

  • Shades of Jack Finney!
This is a captivating blend of time travel, alternative history and vintage Hollywood glam. I thoroughly enjoyed the main character's efforts to unravel the mystery he finds himself wrapped in. His efforts to tweak history to help the long-dead silent movie star who tugs at his heart are surprising and fascinating--and impossible to anticipate. The story's appeal is somewhat similar to that of Jack Finney's "Marion's Wall," but has its own unique charm and suspense. A fun adventure, a fine read. ... show more

  • From past to present, a real fun read...
Short of Shakespeare, a five-star rating is hard to achieve, but for fun and frolic, a look at the present and a fling to the past, this beautifully portrays an idol of Hollywood beauty in days of yore - oh, my goodness... what is going to happen to her reputation? You must read this mystery, this intrigue, this well-rendered use of language, drawing pictures in your mind and one of those books that once picked up, will likely be finished within three days! -Cindy- ... show more
