I absolutely love this author. This is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait to read more. The book was on the longer side and I was nervous I would get bored. That was not the case. I loved it. I really like so much about this story - the small county setting, sheriffs department, large family dynamics, characters, drama, mystery, and so much more. Only reason I can not rate this book 5 stars is I pretty much figured out two of the bad guys from pretty early on. With that said I still enjoyed this book very much. And the end shocker was the real one. It all makes sense now but damn that hit me. I even “awed” out loud. Another great read. ... show more

This is a very good book from beginning to end the ending is a little twisted but it makes sense and you will love it if you read it I hate it that they are so expensive though

I struggled with the characterization of Emmy!ou, not even liking her at times. However, as the plot progresses the other characters take center stage and as her father and others interact, Emmylou shows her strength as law enforcement. The ending is unexpected and left me in awe that I missed it.

In some ways, I’m sorry that I had to give this book only three stars because the plotting was definitely five. And some of the dialogue too. But the book gave me nightmares. The awfulness of the description of these serial (plot alert, but the book cover probably gave that away) killers just goes on and on. The description of what they do while they’re interacting with the law enforcement trying to catch them is so far over the top, I just couldn’t stand it. Yes, I could have thrown it away, but I became invested in the plot and read it to the finish. So if you’re ready for all the graphic serial killer horribleness, read on.
