    • Good value set so you can dip your toes into slow drying oil paints

My daughter and I have started to play around with oil paints, but we didn't want to spend a lot of money while we don't really know what we're doing. While you can get away with less colors, it's nicer to have more options if you're inexperienced. We also wanted linseed oil vs alkyd resin paints for the slower drying time (and more time to blend, correct). This set is one of the better values out there so is perfect for our purposes. The pigmentation seems good to us, but we haven't purchased the primo stuff yet; as beginners, we don't really know better yet, but so far it has been fun for us to experiment with. Don't forget to order some linseed oil! If you're giving this as a gift, you might want to re-box it. It comes in 7 boxes that fit 3 tubes each. That means you will have one box of 2 with an empty slot. We ordered the 20 colors-A version, and ours came with 801 titanium white instead of 802 zinc white. ... show more

I absolutely love the high pigment quality of this oil paint. It's a good thickness to use when you're painting on your canvas. The colors absolutely pop and the thickness makes it easier to get the right shade of color for my paintings. Makes it easier to mix it and apply it to my canvas. Drys well and doesn't crack up. Adhesive quality is really good, sticks to the canvas very nicely. Great value for the amount and the size of the paints.     • It has hardly any pigment. The white is unusable, brown also.

It’s a lot of paint for the money except that they hardly add any pigment. So if you use a tiny bit of linseed oil just to get it usable on a brush, it’s almost see through the coal black is good. The 2 greens I tried are also weak, and they Virginian brown is a joke as is the titanium white. I didn’t try the rest bc I’m returning the set. It’s Chinese Garbage. My kid loves painting, these seemed like a decent enough value for a large array of colors. So far no masterpieces worthy of the Louvre, but she seems delighted to have access to so many colors/paints. Quality seems fine, though I'm not an expert on oil paints.

These paints come in boxes of 3. I ended up just taking them all out and storing them in a new container. I love the variety of color. I still end up mixing several colors together but this is a great variety. The texture of the paint is really good. You wouldn't want it to be any thicker. If you need it thinner, you just add a bit of linseed oil. The dry time is under a week. (I had mine in my basement so it was safe from the kids. But the cooler air made it take longer than normal since oils dry faster in warm air). These are a really good budget friendly option for those still somewhat beginning to paint with oils.
