Top Amazon Reviews

  • Symbolic Simplicity of Spirit
The reason I wanted this tree was the simplicity. I discovered a similar tree in a catalog, and thought what a great idea, so I decided to see what Amazon had to offer. I found the catalog tree and this similar one. They were both priced the same, with small differences. This tree had a circle connecting the four legs of the base, and seemed a sturdier construction. Also, the curves on this tree were more attractive. Although the other tree had a higher rating, I felt that I could deal with the problems in some of the negative reviews, so I ordered the tree. This is late September 2022. The tree arrived several days late. Plenty of time before Christmas, but this had me worried that it was being thrown around in the back of some truck and damaged. When it got here, the box looked like it had been through the ringer. It hardly seemed to have a flat surface, and it had so much tape on it, I really was afraid of getting someone's reject or discovering pieces missing. There was not much to do, but open up the box and put it together. It was too early to set up the tree for Christmas, but I had planned to set it up anyway after reading a number of negative reviews about the tree not standing straight. Apparently, the seller had some real experience with these complaints, because they had a PDF file posted on Amazon to direct customers on how to straighten the tree if they experienced this problem. This was a little discouraging, but I figured could manage to straighten it, or return it. I only had thirty days to return it, so I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving, when we normally set our tree up. I opened the box to find the like pieces (branches) were all zip tied together and wrapped in bubble wrap. The base and three separate sections of the trunk were each in their own bubble wrap. I suppose this was to protect the finish. I believe it would have taken more than the box being thrown around to bend the wrought iron pieces. The only small pieces to worry about were three Allen screws in a ziplock bag. If I remember correctly, this ziplock was inside a larger ziplock that contained only what appeared to be a blank piece of paper, and was taped to one of the bubble wrapped pieces. Now I was looking for the assembly instructions, and couldn't find any after thoroughly searching the box and the wrappings. So, I proceeded to put the tree together, as it didn't seem like rocket science. I went looking for the correct size Allen wrench, and found the size needed was metric. When assembling anything, I am always concerned about cross-threading screws. In my younger days, this happened occasionally. Eventually I learned to turn the screws backwards first, until I could feel that little click where the threads line up. Doing this, I found I could thread the Allen screw into the base with my fingers until they stopped. No Allen wrench needed. If you have weak fingers, an Allen wrench can help, but it should thread smoothly and easily. If you need much force, you may be cross-threading it, and the damage is already done. I didn't feel a need to tighten it any more than snug. Next, I had to figure out which of the three trunk piece went in first. The top is obvious, because of its pointed decorative finish, and three, small welded branches. Now is where directions help. With a 50% chance and trying to logically figure it out, I still got it wrong. Not only that, I put it on upside down. It quickly became obvious, as the branches needed to slide in from the top. No problem, I unscrewed it and replaced it with the other trunk piece, turning it backwards until the threads clicked. It occurred to me that some of the leaning that people experienced was due to a thread being cross-threaded. The three trunk pieces went together with no problem or leaning. To finish, I had to simply drop in the branches into the square holes in the rings that were part of the trunk. The bigger branches are, of course, the lower ones. In some reviews, a few people had problems inserting these branches. I had no such experience, but was prepared to do a little filing if it occurred. The tree was now finished. Upon finishing, I looked at the blank piece of paper again, and found that it was folded in half with the directions printed on the inside. I like to follow directions when assembling things, I find that it can save time by making assembling easier, and helps to avoid costly mistakes. Even with my assembling mistake, the tree went together very quickly, and disassembled more quickly. This is one of the advantages I envisioned when I first saw the tree. There are advantages and disadvantages for everything. The tree is a little springy, being made of metal, though stable. According to the reviews I've read, pets aren't a problem. I imagine string lighting would take away from the appearance, with wires everywhere. Sparkling or shiny ornaments may need to dominate the tree for best appearance, but ornaments are easily viewed throughout the tree. It also occurred to me that a light background behind the tree is important to show off the tree well. I have pale, mint green walls, so I should be okay. While I like a lighted tree, not having to put lights on the tree or to worry about a whole string going bad is nice. The chore of spreading branches is not required. I loath that. Storage will be less bulky, but maybe the same weight as the old artificial tree. Lastly, this tree should last a long time. All in all, I'm very happy with the tree, but the proof will be in the decorating. This tree isn't for everybody. If you wanted a real tree, you wouldn't be looking here. If you are nostalgic for one of those life-like artificial trees, with pre-lit lights, this isn't for you. However, if you hate needles that tend to fall to the floor, branches that have to be spread, pre-lit lights that go bad, and a tree that is difficult to get back into their box, you might want to consider this wrought iron tree. It is an artful, symbolic tree that doesn't take a lot of trouble to represent your holiday spirit. Merry Christmas! ... show more

  • its nice assuming shipping didn’t destroy the box
Received this item in a box that looks like 9miles of bad road. I assembled to verify everything was included and thankfully it was. the upper most portion is slightly off center, not sure if it is the screw connecting the segments, the hole in each segment together being misaligned or it being damaged. Overall quite pleased and now looking for lighting. ... show more

  • Coolest tree EVER!
We have collected awesome Hallmark decorations for 30 years...back when they were high quality, beautiful things to cherish, not the crap they put out today. It was always tricky to display the ornaments on a tree so that they could be seen and enjoyed. When I saw this tree on Amazon, I knew this tree was just what we needed. It is perfect! Easy to put together, lovely to look at and it holds a lot...I mean a LOT of decorations. We figure we had roughly 200 on the tree and we could have added more. The tree was a big hit. We enjoyed seeing our cherished decorations so much! Each decoration had special memories of when the kids were young, so this tree was full of memories! Our friends and family wanted to know where we got it and some of them plan to purchase their own. I say go for it if you are thinking about it. It breaks down easily and can be stored in a medium size box. Less room and trouble than the very expensive artificial trees. ... show more

  • It’s Made in China!
The branches fit into metal cubes which are spot welded to the upright frame column. The welds are tiny and of inconsistent quality. The paint / lacquer on the metal components is quite thick and may require a little effort to push home. That effort can be sufficient to break the weld which is difficult to repair. The base metal is cheap steel which isn't totally cleaned of rust before being painted. The rust combined with very thick paint and flaking can occur. There were also areas of poor finishing of the base metal upright sections. ... show more

  • Lovely alternative for homes with animals
Outstanding addition to a home filled with animals. We have 4 cats and a dog and have, for years, had then throwing up green needles for several weeks after Christmas. Not to mention how often they would pull the tree over. After searching for something better and heavier, I settled in this one. So glad I did. Its lovely. Way bigger than I had anticipated and it looks fantastic. I can see us having this for the rest of our lives. The seller included two stockings which was super nice. Get it. Its worth the cost. ... show more

  • Best Alternative To A Real Christmas Tree
I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled once I assembled the tree. This tree is beautiful and elegant; it's sturdy and well-made, and won't take up much space in a storage box between holidays. It looks like it will last for many years, if not a lifetime. Foremost, my asthmatic cat will be happy for an alternative to a real Christmas tree, one that won't cause her to cough up a lung! :) I'll miss the scent of the real thing, but this one will look very nice with lights wrapped around and ornaments throughout. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I would also like to mention that the bare minimum of packaging was used to assure the item's safe arrival, without being wasteful of resources, which is an added plus. THANK YOU! ... show more

  • Cats can not tip
This is a really beautiful tree, easy to put together and my cats did not mess with it. It supports heavy ornaments and lots of them. Storage is better also, it takes much less room than my artificial tree.

  • exactly as described
We got this tree because we have cats, and they are forever eating the needles on our Christmas trees (whether real or fake). This tree allows us to display a rather large ornament collection without having to worry about the cats snacking on plastic. The tree is heavy, is very easy to put together, and stands firmly enough that I don't worry about it tipping over. I know this is an ornament display tree, so really I should not complain about this, but I really wish there were hooks or something that allowed me to put lights on this tree. Ornaments are great, but I prefer the lights. ... show more
