Starting this off by saying, my duramax had a flatbed on it when i bought It, and they used jeep tail lights as they are a common part and size and easy to obtain. When i switched Out from the old incandescent set up to these, the wiring was a bit interesting. After the third try putting them together i finally Got it right and they are great lights. Everything works as they should, 100% better than stock and would buy again. And for any wiring geniuses out there who say “look up the diagram for the truck” and blah blah, whoever installed my flatbed used an extension cord to run the rear lights🥴

I know that the movie version Jurassic Park Jeeps never had LED tail lights, but my version is more of a hybrid of old and new technology. For example, the tail lights are over 20 years old for my Jeep YJ, and the plastic is brittle. The "rear" amber fog lights that the movie version had (As they drove away from the T-Rex) apparently was affixed to the Jeep tub. However, JP Motor Pool had drilled and connected the bolts inside the tail light assembly. With the incandescent bulbs inside, this led to the fog light housing making very little room for the soft top to be put on, as well as a tight fit to tighten down the bolt above the back up light bulb. This LED assembly maintains the same depth as the original, but the actual LED assembly itself just takes up a fraction of the housing. So I can move the amber fog lights further from the Jeep tub, and just waterproof where I drilled the hole for the bolts. I cut off the plug from the back of the original Jeep tail lights (housing was broken anyway), and connected the OEM green and black wire to the turn signal (red wire), the solid white wire to the tail lights (black wire) and black with white wire to the backup lights (yellow wire). I had also attached a 4 pin trailer wiring harness to this and the OEM plug wiring and plugged the rewired tail light connector into the Jeep's wiring harness. Given the OEM tail light used bolts to screw into the tub, as well as this one having bolts that go through the tub, I wound up having to drill out the OEM threads in the tub for a size the same diameter as the bolts for these LED tail lights. Tightening the bolts from the wheel well side was a little troublesome, but it works. The funny coincidence is that since these lights are not left/right specific, the "No dinosaurs left inside vehicle overnight" sign is also lit up at night.

Installing these lights was a bit of a trick, the wire colors did not match up with my 95 yj. I had to find a wire diagram to know what colors to combine. Once you get past this though the lights are bright and stunning. Both sides have the license plate light too so there's no getting them reversed. I also had to drill out the threaded holes in the jeep tub because these lights have the bolt fixed to their back. I think this is to make them water proof. You have to reach up under the tub and put the nut on the bolt from the inside of the tub. All in all it was an easy installation with few tools required. Took about 2 hours most time spent trying to find wire references on you tube. March 6, 2023 I've had these lights for a bit now and have to say they do still work to my fullest expectation.

I really like the smoke lens look on these taillights. Your OEM taillights thread into the body. These require to drill the existing threaded holes a little bit so the bolt fits through the hole and requires a washer and nut on the back side. Drivers side was pretty easy but passenger side not easy getting your hand behind the body to install washer and nut. My 04 TJ required to remove wheel well liner, removed a metal plate, loosened evap canasiter to slide out just enough to get my arm past it to install washer and bolt. Other than that I am very pleased with the look of these taillights.

Kind of a pain to hook up, had to drill stock holes bigger. Lights worked good for about 2 months, then one row stopped working then 2 days later another row stopped working, had to replace.

Bought these January of this year. Weren't as easy to install as the OEM lights, had to drill the holes for the bolts bigger, have to install from underneath the wheel well, quality of the plastic is subpar, but overall was happy with the brightness. However, less than a year later, as you can see in the photos, the LEDs are going out on them. LESS than 1 year. LEDs are supposed to outlast regular bulbs by far. Should have just gone with the OEM and save the hassle and the additional cost of replacing the flasher fuse as well. Save yourself the headache and stick with OEM parts.

This is not a replacement for Jeep YJ tail lights. There is no wiring harness so you have to splice the wires yourself. The bolt holes are also larger than stock so you will need to drill out your body to make them fit. The entire assembly is a touch larger than stock as well. A couple functional things I don't care for: 1) the bottom of both lights have a clear lens, one for your license plate and the other for....no reason. You can certainly disable this yourself but again, too much fuss. 2) there are no side markers on these lights, which is an obvious safety oversight. Do they work? Sure, if you care to tinker with the aforementioned items. They are bright, clear, and an obvious upgrade from the stock tail lights. In the end, I returned these and bought LEDs that were actual plug-and-play replacements for my YJ instead. But if you're on a budget, for $50 or whatever these cost, you probably won't find better.
