this journal is perfect for what i need. it really does lay flat! i'm in the final 15 pages of my first journal, and it's still a cinch to write on at my desk. 160 pages is the perfect amount for me to finish a journal in a satisfying timeframe, but still feel like i worked at filling something up. the bookmark, back pocket, and elastic closing strap have presented absolutely no issues, and are a must for me when it comes to journals. my favorite pen (dr. grip medium point) glides fairly smoothly across the paper, although i imagine felt tip would work great too. i don't have any so i dunno. i loved the burgundy color, and my second color, blush, has just come in. the burgundy was perfectly deep and rich, and i'm a huge fan. the blush is a bit cooler of a color than i expected. i do wish it was a bit warmer, but i tend to attack my journals with stickers, so i don't mind too much. i also tend to tape and paste a bunch of papers and cards into a spread every 20 or so pages, and that's presented no issues with my journal laying flat or looking normal when it's closed. all in all, i intend to keep ordering these, at least until i'm out of colors that i want to use or reuse. i might expand my horizons a bit out of curiosity, but for now, this is an excellent, cheap journal that does exactly what i need it to do at an unbeatable price point. (and if anyone's looking for advice on how to finish a journal, since i only finished my first journal earlier this year: use your journal for everything! taking disorganized notes, packing and grocery lists, writing thoughts, planning something out, pasting in memories. don't feel pressured to make it look a certain way! just use it whenever you need paper for anything, and the overwhelming blank pages will turn into something of your own. have fun!)

I have been an avid and dedicated Moleskine fan for years. I buy a new journal at the beginning of every year, and dedicate it to the year ahead. Moleskine has always been my go-to. I purchased a Paperrage journal recently because I needed and extra journal for some research I’m conducting. Since it wasn’t my “yearly” journal, I saw no problem in trying out something new. If it sucked, oh well. Let me tell you, I am geeking out on this Paperrage journal. I’ll give you the bullet points: •TWO ribbon page keepers! *mindblown* •Page Numbers!!!! You mean I can make my own table of contents in my journal?! WHAT?! •Treasures in the pocket! Namely two sheets of colored tabs AND 3 lined stickers!!! Moleskine would never. I have yet to write in my Paperrage, but I have high hopes for the writability of the pages. Will update my review once I’ve gotten a good feel for it. My excitement over the points I mentioned was too much. I had to share. I’ll be back 😎

Use this for my meeting notes at work. The main reason I picked it was because it lays flat when open and for a lefty that is so helpful ( wire binders are a pain). My opinion ( lefty in her 40's) this type of notebook is better than the "lefthanded" kind because those once you start on the back of the page the wire is on the left side again. Younger peeps might adapt better than those of us who've already suffered years in. This notebook is good size to toss in your bag... pages are thick so no bleeding from pens( have only used a gel pen no markers). Added a pic of a page & you can see the writting a little but no bleeding. Lavender Color is super cute. Definitely buying again.

I was given a similar journal for a class I am participating in, and loved the lay flat design. The one that came with my class was from a site that does custom orders with logos and bulk quantities, so I came here to find one for personal use. I got the bright pink color and it is as pictured - bright and cheerful. It does truly lay flat except for the very first page. The cover is not as soft as my gifted one and the pages are a little bit thicker in the Paperage one. I like that it's small and I can stick it in a purse or bag and bring it along with me if I want. Would buy again!

I was a real stickler for having real Moleskin notebooks for a long time, and wouldn't even consider similar products made by other companies. But you know what? There are a lot of Moleskin copies out there that are really great, and this is one of them. It has the same soft/hard covers that I'm used to, the same kind of interior quality to the pages, the same portability and durability when tossing a book like this into a bag. So I'm sold. This was a book for my daughter, in her favorite color (any blue), and she loves it. I love that they come in so many colors and make such nice little stocking stuffers around the holidays. It's definitely a good product and I'd get one again.

I buy these exact journals regularly because the quality is excellent. I use gel ink pens, and these pages do not bleed at all! Paper is a great level of thickness and soft yet absorbent enough to use ink gel with zero smearing. College-ruled paper is a must for me, and the lines on each page are perfectly executed. The elastic closure is helpful to keep the journal tidy as well as providing a logical place to clip a pen onto. The variety of colors means I can switch things up and color-code journals. Overall a sturdy, functional, and stylish journal.
