This is Jack's wife and my hands are weak and hypermobile. This tool is a freaking dream. It's fairly heavy and seems built to last. I like the faux wood covers to cover the joins in the handle. It is so easy to step this into a weed with a taproot and rock it back to pull the sucker out. I love that the ejection lever is something I can step/kick down on. Those hand levers that wrap the main pile would be fatiguing quite quickly. I'm so happy and expect this to last a good while.

I received my weed puller a few days ago. I used it in the garden after a rain and it worked very well. It does especially well with large weeds. Small weeds are easier to pull by hand. It is really sturdy. It wasn't hard to put together even though the instructions are next to useless. I have one question. There was a 2" long aluminum tube that came with the kit. A photo is shown below. What is this for? I can't figure it out.

The tool works, but not as well as advertised. It does pull some weeds like dandelions, but you have to get the angle just right, and it doesn’t always remove the full root. The ejection feature is helpful, but it can get stuck with wet soil. Build quality is decent and it saves your back since you don’t really have to bend down. Overall, it’s okay for light yard work, but not a miracle tool.

This tool is saving my joints! Weeding used to mean hauling 2 hand tools, a short pitchfork, a bucket, and a kneeling pad, moving slowly thru the yard on my hands and knees resulting in stiff, sore, overworked joints and back. Now I have this tool! Once you get a feel for it (took me 10 or 15 mins of attempts on various weeds,) the tool has a high efficacy rate. I have the same or better rate of getting the whole root using this vs. hand weeding. The tool is easy to use, I just line up the center of the weed, stomp the teeth into place, and pull back in the direction of the lever. (I found it better to be on the same side as the lever and to pull rather than allow the lever to face a different direction and have to push.) I'm 5'10", so I wind up bending over once in a while to line up my shot or clear the teeth, but it's nothing compared to the stooping, squatting, and yanking I once did. Having to clear the teeth after each pull doesn't bother me. I read reviews for self-ejecting versions of this tool and they helped me solidify my theory that the simplest design will always be superior. I am enjoying my success using this tool in mostly clay soils. I imagine sandy soils will also be easy to use the tool in, but use in/with rocks has been hit or miss. I made sure to use it after a decent rain, when the ground was still soft. This tool probably won't be used in summer when my clay soils bake to the consistency of concrete. I have also been targeting dandelions, false dandelions, ragweed, etc. I tried the tool on a small blackberry cluster, but it didn't work out. The crazy corkscrew roots are too much for this tool. Stick to the carrot-like roots of dandelion types or the dense cluster roots of ragweed types. I cannot speak to the durability of the tool because I've only used it once so far, but I believe the design to be simple enough that it will last me a long time if I keep it relatively clean and out of the elements. I plan to buy more of these for my husband, bff, and maybe even my neighbor! $25 to get a laborious task done virtually pain free is such a bargain!
